The Queue: Looking like a FigurePrint

Whenever I get the weapon unsheathed while riding on my Red Flying Cloud I always feel like I look like a FigurePrint of my character. Maybe I shouldn’t enjoy this, but I do.

This is the Queue. We’re talking Blizzard and its games. Let’s see what y’all had to say.

But before we do, I did go tame a devilsaur on my hunter. I’ll probably do a whole Queue about that at some point.

CHRTHMAS EVE

Q4TQ: Rhonin died at Theramore and it appears he now has a statue in the new Dalaran. But Rhonin’s death is barely mentioned at all in-game — if it even is (I vaguely recall Vereesa mentioning it during Mists, but I could be mistaken). Should Blizzard do something to actually put Rhonin’s death “in game”? Maybe a cinematic or something to show Theramore going explody?

No.

Been running AQ a lot to collect appearances I didn’t get before, and I was wondering, why is it Tier 2.5? What kept it from being a full tier?

AQ gear was considered a ‘sidegrade’ from BWL gear — the only boss in AQ that drops gear that was an improvement over BWL in terms of stats was C’Thun himself, and he was so hard that most guilds didn’t get him down until they were well into Naxx and had better gear. So the various tier pieces from AQ were called 2.5 because they weren’t really better than BWL/Onyxia/Ragnaros dropped tier pieces.

Now, some of them were – the Warrior tier was in general superior DPS gear to the Battlegear of Wrath, which was a tanking set. (Some of the AQ pieces had dodge or the like on them, mind you.) I remember my DPS clownsuit had three pieces of AQ gear in it. But if you wanted clear upgrades from BWL, you generally went to Naxx — AQ gear was on par with, not superior to, BWL. (I tanked with that shield from BWL quests for a long while.)

SCOTTLEYES

So, anyone know if Blizzard is planning to turn OFF Garrison notifications anytime soon? I’m getting really tired of seeing “MISSION COMPLETE” messages EVERY TIME i portal, hearthstone, etc. while farming old raids.

People already told you, but I’ll answer it here so others get to see it — the Garrison notifications turn off once you have a Class Order Hall and its mission table.

Or you could just stop doing Garrison missions, but I feel you about the Free Stuff. It’s hard to stay away.

I don’t think Algalon is the wild card.  Between doing ICC when it was current and doing Herald of the Titans I have to say that the Lich King fight was much, much harder than Algalon.  OTOH, with the severs being as unstable as they are I’m inclined to think that Algalon was right.  It is not a world worth saving.  All praise to our new DDOS overlords.  His name is Algalon.

I am the proud holder of a Realm First Algalon 25 kill, a Realm First Yogg-0 kill, and I was on the team that killed Heroic Arthas 25 first on my realm at the time. So I can say this to you without fear, without hesitation.

You are utterly wrong.

Algalon was one of the hardest fights that expansion. He was harder than Heroic Anub-25 in ToTC, a fight so hard that I race changed to Night Elf so that my tank would have the Quickness racial (it was awesome for tanking that fight). He was harder than Heroic Arthas, a lot harder. He was certainly harder than Yogg-0, which in and of itself was a very very hard fight. Time has gentled dear Algalon, even if you’re doing it as a Herald run which means you’re appropriate level and with gear rougly similar to what ours would have been.

The reason Algalon was harder was the limited time on attempts for the week. You could wipe and wipe and wipe on Arthas until your group finally understood that Shadow Traps are bad and you shouldn’t stand in them. You could screw up and get blown off the platform, or screw up the diseases, or fall off the edge when Arthas collapses it, or get picked up by a Val’kyr and in the end, it just meant a corpse run back.

But with Algalon, you didn’t have time for corpse runs. You didn’t have time for anything because you had one hour and that was it. The second you started the clock on Algalon, you had one hour to master the fight or you were done for the week, too bad, come back next week and try again. He hit tanks like a nuclear bomb, put a stacking debuff on them that forced a tank swap, and everyone was blowing up from black holes like it was going out of style, and every time you wiped, you lost precious time you needed to learn the fight. Even if you had wipe protection, you were stil down at least five minutes after every pull. And the more progress you made, the more time you chewed up on the clock, making every wipe feel ever more brutal and demoralizing.

The Lich King was nothing after we did Algalon. We spent two days a week doing nothing but wipe after wipe on Arthas before we got him down because we could. We had that luxury. Algalon didn’t have time for your wiping BS. You had one hour. Get it done or go home.

Q4tQ Putting a finer point on my long running series of “the skull of ma’nari has shaken my transmog confidence” questions, I would like to ask: can the doomhammer set that enhancement gets be made symmetrical by just transmogging both hands into a favorite non-doomhammer mace or axe graphic from the wardrobe?

I’d totally go enhancement if I could just have the same weapon in each hand, but I don’t know if the offhand will mog at all. I realize that you can’t mog artifacts to look like other artifacts (so no “double doomhammer”) , but there’s an axe from dragon’s soul I’d love to visually dual wield!

I believe you can transmog the offhand Doomhammer. I know you can transmog the offhand 2h sword from the Fury Warrior Artifact and both the Sword and Shield from the Protection Warrior one, and I believe those work the same way as the Doomhammer, i.e. there’s a single item in your inventory but two of them when you equip them. But when I was testing the Artifacts I didn’t have anything to transmog it with, so I’m not 100% sure of this.

TYLERCLES

Since I’m here might as well add a question, too:

I know I’ll get the answer to this in a few days, but what (if anything) can warglaives be transmogged to, other than other warglaives?

As unlikely as I’m sure it is, I’d love if fist weapons were an option. Looking through my wardrobe, I’ve seen a lot of fist weapons that would suit a Blood Elf demon hunter very well, and I like the idea of just tearing at demons with my (nearly) bare hands.

Warglaives can be transmogged to themselves, One hand axes, and One hand swords. That’s it. Sorry. Fist weapons are still only moggable to other fist weapons.

That’s the Queue for Friday. Anne’s up for the weekend, ask her some questions, she likes those. I’ll see you guys Tuesday. You can always buy a copy of Nameless if you’re missing me too much before then.
