Breakfast Topic: What other mega dungeons would you like to see?
We got a lot of great news out of Gamescom, but one of the most exciting for me was that Karazhan will be making a return in patch 7.1 as a sprawling 5-player dungeon. I loved the original raid, and I’m glad it’s not going anywhere — but I also love massive dungeons. The original Blackrock Depths will always be one of my favorites. I don’t know what it is exactly about large dungeons, to be honest. I think it’s something to do with the fact that bigger things automatically seem more daunting. A gigantic raid boss always felt more threatening than a small group of enemies — maybe the same applies to dungeons as well.
But I’m wondering…is this a shift to more of these gigantic dungeons? If so, will we see other locations given the same treatment?
If this is the case…well, there are a lot of raids out there. Which ones would we likely see as dungeons? Ulduar also features in the Legion expansion, far more so than anyone likely expected. As a raid, Ulduar was massive — it was also one of my favorites. I wouldn’t mind seeing that one return as a sprawling dungeon. Or the Temple of Ahn’Qiraj — it was so enormous that it had its own mounts so raids could travel faster. It’d be kind of nice to see those mounts suddenly become relevant again! Alternatively, we haven’t seen a new addition to the Caverns of Time since Cataclysm — I was always fond of the Caverns of Time dungeons, and I wouldn’t mind seeing a brand-new, gigantic addition to the zone.
What do you guys think? Are you excited about the prospect of Karazhan’s return? Do you like the idea of converting old raids into dungeons? Would you rather see more old dungeons updated to heroic versions? Is there a raid you’d like to see return as a five man? What other mega dungeons would you like to see?
