The Queue: Khadcar
Welcome back to The Queue, our daily Q&A feature for all of Blizzard’s games! Have a question for the Blizzard Watch staff? Leave it in the comments!
I got a new car over the weekend — well, a used car, but new to me. It’s very fancy and has a dashboard display that lets me set my own wallpaper. Khadgar is there now. He’ll live there forever…or at least until the next owner of this vehicle discovers him upon purchasing it. It’s like a terrifying, real-world mobile Wondrous Wisdomball!
…I really like this car.
Q for an Anne Q! The Well of Eternity was the stabilized form of the wound created when the Titans ripped Y’Shaarj out of Azeroth, so it was basically a pool of Azeroth’s blood, right?
I’ve wondered throughout Legion if the ley lines we see so boldly exposed throughout the Broken Isles are also veins (or perhaps just capillaries) of Azeroth’s blood. And now with the Wound in the World and the Azerite we’ll be fighting over in Battle for Azeroth, I’ve really been wondering — what is the difference between Azeroth’s blood in the form of the Well of Eternity and Azeroth’s blood in the form of Azerite?
Well the biggest difference at the moment is that the blood in the Well of Eternity was liquid, and Azerite is crystallized. But it also depends on which Well you’re talking about. The original Well of Eternity was a font of arcane energy — Azeroth’s lifeblood — that was calmed and eventually balanced due to the intervention of the keepers. They placed magic wards around the lake to keep it calm.
The current Well of Eternity up on Hyjal is a diluted version of the original. Illidan chucked three vials of water from the original Well of Eternity into a lake. While it’s still incredibly powerful, one might say it doesn’t pack quite the punch as the original. And then we have the Nightwell — the Nightborne altered it with the Eye of Aman’thul. Of course, the Nightwell is no longer a thing, thanks to our actions in the Nighthold.
I’m not sure why Azerite is crystallized. It might have something to do with the way in which it was created. The original Well of Eternity was due to something being forcibly torn out of Azeroth. This time around, we’re dealing with a monstrous weapon impaling the world — and who knows what kind of power is in that blade. It might be cauterizing the blood as it flows to the surface, who knows? We don’t, just yet — but I’m guessing we’ll find out a lot more about it in Battle for Azeroth.
So, is there a quest/breadcrumb to send you to Silithus after you take down Argus and if so, where is it?
Yes! Once you finish off Antorus, you need to head to either Stormwind or Orgrimmar, depending on your faction of course. If you don’t automatically have a quest pop up for you, you may have to relog in order to see it. Follow the quest chain, and it’ll send you to where you need to go.
QftQ: I already know the answer is, “It doesn’t matter,” but humor me here.
My DK basically runs WQ for rep, and gets the Wakening Essence, about 40 a day now with the change in 7.3.5. He is wearing 2 legendaries that are ilvl 1000, and has six more in his bag, three at ilvl 1000, three that can be upgraded to that level. I don’t plan on raiding or doing anything much with him, maybe the mage tower if I get ambitious.
Should I use the Wakening Essence to upgrade the legendaries in his bag first, or try to collect all the legendaries and not worry about the ilvl on the other three, as I will probably never use them?
I’m in the same spot as you — I have a ton of legendaries in the bank, waiting to be upgraded. But I never really use any of them. I don’t know if it helps at all, but I decided to just save up for the token and see what I get from that. I haven’t actually done the Mage Tower quest yet though, thank you for the reminder on that — so I may look in and see what’s supposedly the most ideal for that encounter, and make sure I’ve got those upgraded first. But if I’m not using a legendary, I don’t really see a reason to go about upgrading it right away.
Q4tQ: what exactly happened to Argus now that it is a tiny red spot in the sky? Why are we still getting invasions if Argus is gone?
Argus is still there — it’s the portal to Argus that closed. The one that Illidan ripped open at the end of Tomb of Sargeras. We’re still getting invasions because it’s current content and something to do — gameplay reasons, not story reasons.
There’s also the matter of demons in general. We stopped the Burning Legion, yes. But that doesn’t mean all demons have suddenly vanished, never to be seen again. There were demons before the Burning Legion was formed, and they’ll continue on now that the Burning Legion is over with. They just won’t be an incomprehensibly gigantic army united under the leadership of a fallen Titan.
Non-spoilery Q4tQ: Which is your favorite secret entrance to the Rogue class hall?
For me, I tend to favor the cheese shop. It’s right by the entrance to the Horde area, and it’s run by a Trias. You can never go wrong with a Trias cheese shop.
Q4tQ: how did Alleria get out of the ‘brig’ after the events of the 1000 years of war audio drama?
You know that whole bit where the Xenedar got shot down out of the sky and crash landed on Argus? That’s more than enough to bust anyone out of jail. Alleria showed up later on just in the nick of time during that initial quest you go on with Turalyon — he was certain she was still alive despite the crash, and it turned out he was right. Alleria was expecting that Xe’ra would simply lock her up again, but…well. You saw what happened to Xe’ra after we put her back together. She didn’t exactly have time to order the Army of the Light to stuff Alleria back in prison.
