The Queue: I don’t believe in Children’s Week

Children’s Week? What’s that? I’ve never heard of such a thing, and if you value your sanity, you haven’t either.

FUZZYBUNNY ASKED:

Isn’t it Children’s Week?

No, it is definitely not Children’s Week because Children’s Week is dead to me.

VULKAN ASKED:

Haven’t seen a single armor piece in more than a month of doing Nighthold, Emerald Nightmare and Trial of Valor weekly with two different characters. Given that they’re not relevant content anymore and that one can equip a fresh 110 way past the ilevel that drops in those raids just by doing world quests, should Blizzard boost the drop percentage of the armor? Right now they’re only useful for transmog and once BfA launches we’d have to wait years to be able to solo that content.

I’ve reached the point in the expansion where everything seems like sort of a tedious time sink. I’ve zoomed past getting gear upgrades from Mythic dungeons (or Mythic+ dungeons at the level I can reliably clear) and the only drops that are useful to me are in normal Antorus or better, but while my guild runs it fairly regularly, the RNG gods haven’t favored me. One day, maybe, I will get a gear upgrade… but it’s been a while since I’ve gotten anything useful to drop in any dungeon or raid.

And collecting and upgrading gear is a big part of the fun of the game. Once you run out of levels, you’re purely improving your character by picking up stuff to make you hit harder (or sometimes just look cooler while you do). And it just doesn’t feel like there’s much there in current-game content right now, so I tag along on guild events more to help out others than anything else. Because if I go to a dungeon or raid expecting an upgrade piñata, I am just going to be an unhappy person.

I try not to be an unhappy person. It’s tough, but I try.

Boosted characters start out at ilevel 870. Anyone can get up to ilevel 895 from World Quests. Anyone can buy gear at ilevel 910 on Argus… which makes running anything less than Mythics at +10 or higher or Antorus at any difficulty level is pointless for getting gear. You’re doing it for fun, for quests, for transmog… and probably to vendor literally anything you pick up.

I would love to see an increase in the gear drop rate, since its utility has really gone down to nothing… but I don’t think it’s likely to happen and shall continue to keep my expectations off the “upgrade piñata” level.

ZAL ASKED:

Do you ever visit your WoD garrison anymore? If so why? I still make bags on my tailor, and send the occasional raid mission for the slim chance of tmogs.

That reminds me that I need to visit and say hi to Dog. After having abandoned the task as impossible, I finally found the pebble in Dalaran (mostly by accident). And you have just reminded me that I had to go and show it to Dog.

And I am so happy I did. While I rather thought Dog was safe and had plenty of good company back in my Garrison, we didn’t have each other. Now Dog lives in the pet shop in Dalaran where he is well cared for (I get the impression that no one in my Garrison really knew what to do with a stray dog) and I can visit him and pet him every time I hearth to the city.

Good doggo.

But to get back to your question… no, I don’t really visit my garrison anymore.

CAZ ASKED:

If gnomes COULD be druids, what would their druid forms look like?

They would be the most adorable kittens, puppies, and bear cubs you have ever seen. It would be magnificent.

FGH ASKED:

What is your favorite Hearthstone character that you would like to see included into WoW? Personally i would like Rin (the first disciple), cos her story seems neat.. actually, now that i think about it..there seems to be an abundance of cool original Gnomes in HS…

I feel like I’ve answered this question before, but maybe I’m just hallucinating that whole thing where I started talking about Toki fanfic. (Because I would never do that. Ever. Definitely not.) Or maybe we’re living in some shared delusional state where we’re talking Hearthstone Gnomes all the time.

Which I wouldn’t actually have a problem with, because there are some super cool original Gnome characters in Hearthstone.

Today however, I am going to talk about an all new Gnome… Infinite Toki.

If you’re playing the Witchwood’s just-released Monster Hunt mode, Infinite Toki is the final boss encounter for Toki. And, as you might have guessed, Infinite Toki is a future version of Toki who has come back in time to stop herself from… I don’t know. Going forward in time and becoming Infinite Toki? It’s more than a little paradoxical.

But it is fantastic. The two have some great dialog, and start the fight off with:

Has this happened before?

This is the third time we’ve fought. Give up!

Which, come to think of it, is a really strange conversation to have with yourself.

Anyway, now I’m pretty sure that Toki and Infinite Toki need to bring their bickering into WoW. And Rin can come too. I’m fine with that. Nemsy, of course, is just a given.

And that is all for today, my Queuevian friends. I’ll be back next week, and, who knows, maybe I’ll answer some of the same questions again. We’ll all find out together next week!
