Is Heroes of the Storm teasing a Good Doggo hero? Who cares! Let’s speculate anyway!

As the Heroes of the Storm team is wont to do, they’ve decided to throw out some sort of teaser on social media. This time, though, the teaser is especially odd. Featuring nothing more than the image above with GIF’d lights, the tweet just… exists. Two companion tweets suggest an event and some sweet luchador skins, but there are no details yet. They’re out there, and we’re here left speculating.

But hey, speculating can be fun. And it gives me a reason to use the phrase “Good Doggo” in an official capacity. So, while I absolutely would love to see this little guy be playable in the Nexus, tearing off limbs and faces left and right, I don’t think that’s what this is actually teasing. I do have a couple ideas, though.

The most obvious choice (to me) is that this is a teaser for an event, one featuring fighter-style outfits for several heroes. The reason I say it’s most obvious is because the poster that Good Doggo here is on says what looks to be “NEXOMANIA” — i.e., something Nexus-equivalent to Wrestlemania (thanks, Anna, for helping me decipher that). Nexomania sounds exactly like the type of event the Heroes team would come up with to promote new skins, and the team’s follow-up tweets feature similar art. And based on this cute puppy alone, I’m all for the designs they come up with.

That said, the poster has lights and something that might be a piñata in it. Where else have we seen those sorts of things? Dorado. I’d be a bit surprised to see another Overwatch map added in before they finish the Hanamura rework or the Dark Nexus event, but hey, it could happen. Frankly, I’d be more than okay with them supplanting Hanahmura for Dorado, provided they can get the map mechanics to feel fun.

However, there’s also the possibility that this is teasing a hero release — in this case, likely Sombra. I mean, that’s at least the most obvious choice I can think of. We’re about due for another hero release, and Sombra would be a really cool addition to the Nexus. Actually, now that I’m thinking about it, I kind of hope it’s Sombra instead of the other possibilities.

I guess we’ll have to wait to find out for sure, though. In the meantime, feel free to speculate with me about what this might mean. Or, you know, muse on what a Good Doggo hero with ferocious abilities would look like in the game. Your call.

UPDATE: The Heroes team continues to tease, this time with a tweet further providing evidence of a special event. Based on what I’m assuming will be called “El Diablo” and a similarly masked Garrosh, it’s looking a lot more like we’re getting a bunch of new skins. Could we also be getting a new hero? I’m still hopeful.

UPDATE: Translated, this reads, “THE BELL HAS RUNG PREPARE FOR SPECTACULAR WRESTLING! Coming soon to the Nexus.” That certainly sounds like a new event.
