The Queue: Golden Eye, CYOA with Alexa, Fishing, and Rep

Side thought: how has someone not made a shot-for-shot remake of that show in WoW?

Yup! You’ll be able to modify that from the barber shop.
And as with most questions… let’s talk about the barber shop. It’s time for an overhaul. The experience is clunky as additional options come into play, and you can’t see all the different attributes without endlessly scrolling through.
Now, this might not be a bad thing, per se, there’s certainly a point where too many options prevent articulated display, but if you take a look at some of the user experience best practices (like Google’s Material Design Lists) and draw upon those for inspiration, there’s a lot of possibilities that open themselves up.
Note too that I’m saying the experience is clunky, not the interface. The interface is very Warcraft-y, which is what the default UI strives to provide, and does it quite well. The problem is in the way that the interface is presented, or rather, is not presented.
Playing around with my Echo Dot last night, found out it could do choose-your-own-adventure stories. One is called The Magic Door and is a fantasy one. There’s another called The Wayne Investigations which puts you in the role of a detective trying to solve the Wayne case (i.e. Bruce Wayne’s parents.)
I played some of The Magic Door last night, and it’s pretty neat, with music, sound effects, and voiced roles, not just Alexa simply narrating (although she is the main narrator, and acts as a “companion” that goes along with you. At one point we opened a dark room in a house looking for a wizard, and a creepy voice asked her “Alexa, are you afraid of ghosts?”
I have no comment, other than I’ll be doing this tonight. I didn’t know about this at all and it sounds amazing. Step 1 to a holodeck? I’m going to assume this is step one to a holodeck.
q4tq: For Balance of Power, the rep requirements are:
- Court Honored
- Valarjar Revered
- Nightfallen Revered
I believe that is correct. It’s something I’m going through now actually, have never gotten around to it. But I’m not terribly concerned as rep right now is pretty easy to come by with a 950 level Order Hall follower list. That said, I’m sure others will pipe up if I’m wrong.
How long did people have to fish to get the start of the fishing artifact quest once they had the achievement?
It only took me a couple pools to get, and then with all the Managros groups available in the group finder I was able to the needed junk from him within an hour. I did spent a couple more hours though getting all his toys and pets, including the underwater mount, which being account bound, comes in more handy than realized.
I have not spent a ton of time leveling up the artifact, and don’t have any intention of getting all the spots filled, but the requirement for getting all the golden traits will not take a life time, so I’m planning on doing that soon-ish, definitely before the end of the expansion.
