The Queue: Apparently my Queue headlines suck, so here’s a good one — CHILI CHILI CHILI
This is totally not to be read into at all.
Q4TQ — Does Princess Talanji’s writing get better as you spend more time with her?
I removed the spoiler-ish stuff from your question so I could answer more broadly.
I think it does. Nazmir is her zone, and the two postlude quest chains you do after you’re done with the three main Horde zones show her a bit as well. Although she is oddly absent from the big thing that happens at the end of the Horde chain. It’s kind of odd that she’s not more of a figure in that — I have feelings here that she’s either intentionally left out.
You are right in your question though — she is the Yrel of the expansion. I’m not sure that’s a bad thing either. I like Yrel, and she is absolutely one of my favorite characters Blizzard has ever written, but I know some folks feel strongly the other way. Nonetheless, it’s pretty clear that Talanji’s story is going to continue. Besides just the obviousness of it from the story perspective, her voice actor has been pretty active, and that’s cool and a good subtle sign for her continued involvement.
And um, this part of your question…
Yes, yes, IB4 Adam’s next Queue is titled “Princess Talanji is the best character Blizzard has ever written” and goes on a 4 paragraph tirade to explain why, citing mostly other people’s opinions on Twitter. ;-) ;-) ;-) ;-)
See this is why apparently my Queue headlines sucked. I dunno. Liz has some words for me.
Q4TQ:
Has anybody else ever done the “Turtle in the Water” WQ for the first time, and like after a half hour of killing Seagull after Seagull, still only managed to get like two turtles to the water… then you’re suddenly struck with the realization you’re ALSO supposed to shoot the crabs on the beach?
Ummm… asking for a friend..
Ha! I actually did the opposite, I’m all “Oh, look, birds — that’s a nice environmental effect.” Then they started to eat the turtles. What the hell, Seagulls.
The one thing that continues to bother me about this quest is that I’m not sure when exactly a Seagull or a Crab eats one of the Turtles. As in, do I need to kill the Seagull when it’s way up in the air before it goes down to the sand, or can I just kill the sucker Duck Hunt style when he enters my view?
What we really need is a counter. And then some massive achievements for this — on both letting Turtles live and feeding these other majestic creatures.
QFTQ: I’m not entirely sure I understand how we’re supposed to be getting expulsom. My main is an enchanter and herbalist, and I’ve even scrapped a dozen or so items, and I have yet to get a single one. I thought this was the “blood of sargeras for bfa”. So what gives?
The best way to get the stuff is to scrap every single piece of gear you get. I’m not sure that you’ll be getting many from just a dozen or so. I’ve got around 60 in the bank right now and I’ve scrapped everything I’ve received from daily quests, regular quests, or dungeon runs — including gear I don’t need anymore.
Once you start to do that, you’ll get them.
Now weapon drops in BFA… that’s another story entirely.
Is it my imagination or do both Jaina and Sylvannas seem more powerful than at the beginning of Legion? If not, then it seems like they were phoning it in at the Broken Shore compared to what we saw at Lorderon.
It’s not your imagination at all. I’ve always felt this balance between what magic and war machines can do between expansions is quite off.
If we now have ghost ships we can summon, why wasn’t anything near that used when Azeroth had a hole in the sky ripped open. The same thing can be said about Sylvanas.
I’m also curious where the mechs are that we were all riding around in during the end of Legion. It’s something the Dranei would have access to now … so … what’s up? Did they just forget to bring these gigantic weapons of destruction to Lordaeron?
I’m probably being too picky here. But such is me.
QforAdam: Which are better, Monday Queues or Thursday Queues?
It’s honestly easier for me to write Thursday Queues. I work a lot during the week, and I tend to want to take the weekend to just relax and unwind. Don’t get me wrong, I love what I do, but I’ve also come to realize the importance of “me time.” Writing a Queue on Sunday evening tends to disrupt that, and this last weekend it was cool to not do anything.
The other factor is the question volume, honestly. Friday Queues tend to have a lot of talk in them (that’s good), but light on questions (a challenge, but not a bad one). So it’s much easier for me to grab four or five things from Wednesday’s edition.
Either way, I like writing these. Anne and I switched because she had the podcast and had to write a Queue on the same day. That’s a lot. Nothing sinister behind the switch (not that you asked). But you know, wanted to point that out too.
Q4TQ — Did Saurfang escape?
So spoilers here, obviously, and this will be the last question so just read down to the comments if you want.
Ready? I’ll put the answer in small text next.
The answer is not.
Now, that doesn’t mean he won’t. Or there won’t be some kind of prisoner exchange. I see the more likely scenario being the later by the way. The Alliance can ask for something in return to get him back, and Sylvanas could end up under some pressure from the Orcs and Tauren to bring him home.
If, as some suspect (myself included), he’s getting set up to be the next learder of the Horde, then this would need to happen relatively soon in the story. Think the next major content patch. I don’t see how this could be inserted into the story, except in a very quick and sloppy way, if he doesn’t get set free early.
In other words — if he is going to end up leading the Horde, the next patch will tell if that’s even possible, I’d wager.
