What do you consider the most intriguing aspect of WoW Classic?
The list of things that won’t be in WoW Classic boggles me sometimes. No Horde Paladins, no Alliance Shaman. No Draenei, Blood Elves, Goblins, Worgen, or Pandaren. No Monks, Demon Hunters, or Death Knights. No flying mounts. No new models. No Outland, Northrend, Draenor, or Pandaria, and none of the zones like Uldum or Hyjal or Twilight Highlands that were added to the world in Cataclysm.
And yet, there’s an appeal that lasts and lasts, even for someone as anti-nostalgia as myself. I have fond memories from those days, like so many other players — I’ll admit to being intrigued at the notion of getting to go back and look at it again, see if my memories are rose colored or if I accurately remember those halcyon days long since past. When I had to run everywhere for 40 levels and it took forever to earn the gold for your first epic mount at 60. Heck, I only got one because I sold a Quel’Serrar book from Dire Maul on the AH, and I still had to settle for a horse because I was playing a Human for the reputation bonus.
It’s a long-lost game, and soon, we’ll get a taste of what all the excitement was about when BlizzCon arrives and the WoW Classic demo becoems playable for all who have the Virtual Ticket. Westfall and the Barrens in all their original… glory? I guess that’s the right word? I don’t remember them as being particularly glorious, but I’m an old grump.
But what about you? What, if anything, draws you to Classic servers? What makes you want to play the old game again? Is it the memories of days spent raiding Onyxia and Molten Core? Did you climb the PVP ladder? Do you want to relive the days of Barrens chat? What makes WoW Classic a compelling idea for you — and if it isn’t, why not? Why don’t you want to go back?
