The Queue: Take me with you

Welcome back to The Queue, our daily Q&A feature for all of Blizzard’s games! Have a question for the Blizzard Watch staff? Leave it in the comments!

First off, it’s nice to see Jaina and her mother just having an idle conversation in Boralus. I wasn’t really expecting the idle conversation I happened to stumble across. But far more importantly — hey Katherine, I like libraries too. Actually I’d love to just, you know, take a look around the Proudmoore estate in general. I bet it’s really neat in there! …seriously it’s a giant building smack in the middle of the capital city, it’d be cool if you’d open the doors, you know?

Let’s get to your questions.

OMEDON ASKED:

So I’ve XP-frozen a twinked out level 15 warrior and a level 59 death knight to help facilitate easier leveling experiences for my guildies through predictable, fast queues for easy dungeons (they’re both tanks), and it’s been a lot of fun blasting allied race alts through ragefire chasm and deadmines, and eventually utgarde keep and ramparts all the way to level 80! My question is what is the most out of left field thing have you done to help guildies/friends in game?

It wasn’t really for guildies or friends, but I had a wealth of Void-Shrouded Satchels with heirloom trinkets in them during Warlords. Rather than getting rid of them, I left the satchels unopened, flew to various starting zones and gave them to new players that didn’t have any heirlooms on. I don’t know where all those players are now (seriously, I must have had a dozen of the dang things kicking around), but I hope they made good use of the heirlooms, and maybe helped someone else along the way.

KALCHEUS ASKED:

Q4tQ: I still can’t transmog 1H to 2H and vice versa, right?

Sadly, nope, that’s not possible. Relaxing transmog restrictions is something I really wish Blizzard would get behind, though!

RIK OSBORNE ASKED:

I the “Insurrection” campaign in Suramar, is there some back-end technical reason behind feeding the fruit to refugees between each step of the progression?

I don’t think so — I think it was just something thrown in to help signify the passage of time.  Keep in mind all of this was gated originally, you couldn’t just barrel through the experience. Getting a fruit helped reinforce the idea that you were making progress in your efforts. Nothing technical to it at all, it was just a story mechanism — or at least, as far as I’m aware!

GLOWING METEOR CARROT ASKED:

Was Rexxar hostile to Alliance players in vanilla?

No! I actually ran into Rexxar for the first time on my Night Elf Druid, and I was absolutely thrilled to see him — I ran up to him without thinking about the fact that he was a Horde character. Fortunately, he didn’t outright attack me, he was a neutral mob. However, he could be attacked if you were Alliance. If I clicked him, I would’ve automatically hit him, and I’m guessing that would have ended very badly for my character.

MAVERICK ASKED:

So I bought a couple of those in-store transmog helms, but I don’t see them in my appearance tab. Is there an extra step I’m missing to unlock them? Wowhead says they used to show up in your bags back in the day, but that doesn’t seem to be the case anymore.

They should be in your tab — the appearance tab does have a search box on it now. Just go to your helm section, hit the search bar, and look up Crown of Eternal Winter, Jewel of the Firelord, or Hood of Hungering Darkness. The transmog tab is sorted by newest to oldest in terms of when it came out, so you’ll always see the latest models first, while vanilla-era models are all the way at the end. Those helms came out during Mists of Pandaria, so they should be sitting somewhere in there with all the Pandaria gear. If they aren’t, check your mailbox — and if you still can’t find them after that, put in a support ticket, because you should totally have them somewhere!

RIK OSBORNE ASKED:

Curiosity: After all these years, I just realized that the Gold Road (and other roads) in the Barrens has the same paving stone pattern typically seen in night elf lands. No nelf ruins in the zone, though, aside from the minor stuff that popped up in the Overgrowth after the Cataclysm. Really no indication that elves ever actually lived there. So … maybe these roads were more or less just highways? Like, part of the route from Ashenvale to what is now Desolace, and on to Feralas?

I don’t think that’s ever been officially confirmed anywhere, so I can’t say correct exactly, but that’s what I’ve always assumed. Keep in mind that Kalimdor and the Eastern Kingdoms were once one continent, and Night Elf settlements took up a gigantic portion of that continent. They probably had plenty of roads covering the area, but when the Sundering tore the world apart, it kind of restructured where everything was. That’s why you’ll see random Night Elf ruins here and there in seemingly odd locations — they might look odd now, but back then it was all interconnected and probably a lot more logical in its layout.

PIDIA ASKED:

Q4TQ: I am working on the Uuna stuff and was wondering, is there a way for the Horde to get to Bloodmyst without phasing back Darkshore?

Nope! You can’t just fly out there, you have to take the boat. The boat’s only available when Teldrassil is up, so you have to talk to the NPC and return to that phase. Once you’re done with the quest, you can talk to the NPC again and phase it back to its current incarnation.

That’s it for today’s Queue — if you have any questions you’d like to see answered, be sure to leave them in the comments below!
