The Queue: Are we there yet
Welcome back to The Queue, our daily Q&A feature for all of Blizzard’s games! Have a question for the Blizzard Watch staff? Leave it in the comments!
Realistically, I know we’ve got some time to wait before 8.3. But guys, I’m dying to go to Ny’alotha. I’ve been wanting to go there for a very, very long time now. And it’s right over there, just on the horizon, which makes the waiting even worse. Can we go already? Please? No? Okay, we’ll settle for answering your questions.
Q4tQ: Has the Legion using Void magic ever been addressed? They should ABHOR Void magic – Sargeras should smite anyone who touches it – but instead they cavort with it freely. Was the Burning Legion compromised somehow by the Void, making it blind to its own corruption?
Not exactly — it was a bit like the reason the Alliance was perfectly okay (well, quasi-okay) with allowing Warlocks. Warlocks use Fel magic, Fel magic is bad, right? You’d think so — but the reasoning was always that if one studied and understood Fel magic, one could in theory figure out how to wreck it, or at the very least, use the Legion’s magic against them. Warlocks still operated on a hush-hush kind of level, but while people may give them the side-eye, they aren’t outlawed or anything.
I suspect it’s kind of the same reasoning with demons and Void magic. Yes, that’s what Sargeras and the Burning Legion were trying to undermine. At the same time, using Void magic could offer a deeper understanding of it, and the demons could use the Void’s own power against it. Does it make sense? Not exactly, but if it got them to their end goal — burn the universe down to keep the Void from taking over — then that was really all that counted, you know?
Q4tQ: is there a way to get rid of NightElf eyebrows on Demon Hunters?
If you’re playing a male Night Elf, choosing not to have facial hair will nix the eyebrows. For female Night Elves, that option doesn’t exist — which means you’re stuck with the untamed brows. Sorry!
OK so…
With the level squish coming in 9.0, would you be able to level in a Kalimdor or EK zone all the way from 1 to 60 or will you still have to do some later levels in, say, BfA zones?
You’d be able to go from 1-50 in what would be deemed “Classic” areas — so, Kalimdor and the Eastern Kingdoms. You won’t be able to go 1-50 in a single zone within those continents, but doing the quests on those continents should get you there. Basically, think of it as leveling through the course of a single expansion. So you could level through “Classic” content (although that’s been updated for Cataclysm), Burning Crusade content — Outland, Wrath content — Northrend, and so on.
Of course, if this is an alt for you, you’re not limited to leveling through an expansion or anything. You can still skip around all over the place if you’d rather do so! It’s just a mechanic put in place so that people can go ahead and re-live the entirety of an expansion’s story, instead of playing leapfrog with stories and timelines. It’s an option for alts, not something people are being forced into!
I’ve been cleaning up to make sure I haven’t missed anything in KT & Zandalar. I just picked up Taptaf. So I found a polymorphed person and I don’t say take him to Jaina or Khadgar to get fixed I just make him a battle pet?
Pretty much! …it’s a little grim. I mean, I suppose we could just assume that they would prefer to be a Battle Pet. Who wouldn’t? You get to be relatively safe, your only task in the world is beating the snot out of other Battle Pets who may or may not be anywhere near as smart as you are, and you avoid that whole world-ending doom raid-fight nonsense that all the other heroes have to go through. When you look at it that way, it’s not too terrible, is it?
Okay yeah maybe it is that terrible, but Jaina’s been kind of busy with all that leading Kul Tiras business and who the heck knows where Khadgar is at this point — I mean he said he was going to be in Karazhan but Wrathion didn’t mention him so the tower may have eaten him up and tossed him out in an alternate reality somewhere far, far away.
How long do we all think we might have to wait before 8.3 comes out again?
I’m thinking we’re probably going to see it after the holidays — Blizzard is pretty good about giving their employees time off what with Thanksgiving and Christmas, so they probably want to hold off on doing a major content release until everyone is back, well-rested, and ready to deal with any issues that might pop up. I sort of wish they’d release it in the first couple weeks of December, just so people have something to do over the holiday break, but I suspect they’re going to wait just to give people time to spend with their families and away from the game without feeling like they’re missing out on that fresh new rush of gameplay that comes with a big content release.
Is it still possible to do the Legion class storylines? Since, in their infinite wisdom, Blizzard did not make the titles account-wide, I need to get Huntmaster on my new hunter.
Absolutely! The only thing you can’t do in Legion to my knowledge is the Mage Tower challenge — everything else should still be in place, including all the class storylines. The Hunter one was admittedly not one of my favorites, but I do love the title — I love all the titles that came out of that expansion.
