The Queue: That dog is trouble
Shad’har is one bad dog. I don’t blame him though. Being raised by an Old God wouldn’t be the best environment to grow up in. Plus have you seen his dog house? It’s a weird flesh pit in the middle of a city that may or may not exist! Who wants to live in one of those.
I just had the pleasure of spending a night and a half working on Mythic Shad’har. There are a lot of moving parts and if I let my attention wander at all, it can quickly mean my offtank is going to die. Which has been hard, I was a raid shot caller for so long that it’s hard to turn off. I’ll be paying attention to all the other mechanics and suddenly I’ve stood in five puddles, and Shad’har has swallowed my partner. We’ve gotten close though! We’ll teach that dog to sit, stay, and rollover any pull now.
But since my raid week is over, it must be time for — The Queue.
Q4TQ: Do you farm mounts? If so, what has evaded you the most? Either way how many mounts do you have?
I farm a bunch of mounts. I still don’t have Invincible or Mimiron’s Head. I’ve gotten lucky and snagged a couple of the new N’zoth assault mounts but I don’t have all of them so I’ll still go out of my way to kill Corpse Eater, Ishak, Ha-li, and the rest when I remember. I’m only missing the Blackhand mount from Warlords of Draenor raids. In Legion, the only mount I’ve gotten out of raids is Mythic Gul’dan’s red Infernal. I’m not saying that I do every one of these raids every week, but I try to hit a bunch of them.
My total is 422 right now, and I know there’s a bunch of easy ones I could add to that if I needed to reach another breakpoint for an achievement. But since there aren’t any past A Horde of Hoofbeats — I’ll probably be waiting until Shadowlands before I hit the vendors.
What’s the sport’s car mount of WoW?
Someone suggested the Red Qiraji bug from Ahn’Qiraj. I’ve always seen those more like dirt bikes. They feel springy. Like you could go out for a day of tooling around a motocross track or ride on some dunes. I think that Hippogryphs feel the most sports car-like. They’re still small and zippy like the Qiraji, but they have a weight to them that makes them seem more like a car. But they’re not so big like the dragon mounts. Those feel more like luxury sedans — big, stately and oh so stylish.
I’ve been camping Rotfeaster for 45 minutes. Why am I doing this?
Maybe the desert heat has gotten to you?
Or you’ve fallen prey to the sunk cost fallacy. You spent so long there, that if you left early without killing Rotfeaster all of that time would’ve been a waste. Back in Warlords of Draenor, I spent more hours than I’d care to admit in a group who was farming Nok-Karosh, who dropped the Garn Nighthowl mount. It’s a 100% drop, but you needed a pretty big group to actually be able to take the wolf down. So we’d kill him every 15 minutes and I’d hope that I would roll well enough to get it. Spoiler alert, I didn’t roll very well. In hindsight, I wish I’d spent that time doing literally anything else. Especially since the mount still drops and Nok-Karosh will explode if a level 120 blinks too hard at him.
Getting a Vulture mount would be pretty cool though. There are only a few of those smaller bird style mounts in-game so it’s something that does stand out.
- Q4TQ: do you bother crafting low level armor / weapons just to collect the transmog appearances, even though they might be ugly and you’ll probably never use them?
- Q4TQ: how much Cory would a Corycorier cory if a Corycorier could cory Cory?
- Only if there’s a look that I’m really trying to get. Or a set that needs completing with a crafted piece. For the most part my transmogs don’t go back that many expansions. Unless they’re a huge standout for the class, like Paladin Judgement Plate. Filling out my transmog collection is a fulltime thing though. Even if I’m not going to use the look right away, I like knowing that it’s there — just in case.
- 42 (and a woodchuck would chuck all the wood it could chuck if a woodchuck could chuck wood)
Q4tQ When will you consider yourself “done” with Horrific Visions?
I’ve checked off most of the boxes that would say I’m fully done with them. I’ll still do a run or two a week just for a chance at some high-level corruption gear, and earning mementos is still important so that I can add sockets to my gear. All that extra Versatility can go a long way to making me able to survive dumber and dumber things. Like pulling larger and larger amounts of the trash at once in Ny’alotha. Because seriously there are so many cultists between me and bosses, and the bosses have the shiniest stuff!
Now that I’m not ‘obligated’ to run as many on my Druid each week, my Demon Hunter can take some of the priority too. She’s going to be saving up for the very expensive mount from Wrathion. Like I’ve said before, I love Visions — just not enough to run them eight times a week.
What is the worst part of Horrific Visions for you? For me it’s while being able to group up with others, my being a Rank 15 and others much lower wanting to run them can be problematic. I have a few guildies who would like me to go with them but are Rank 2s. I can tear through them on my own but I KNOW they will die no matter how careful I am.
The Mage Quarter. I’ve lost so many runs to things going wrong in the Mage Quarter. Thankfully they nerfed Magister Umberic so he only does two teleports instead of three, and somewhere along the lines, they made it so Druids could shapeshift out of the Leaden Foot snare. But not before I made up my mind about the whole area. The runner up is the jumping fire feet madness at the beginning of the Valley of Spirits in Orgrimmar. Accidentally bouncing off the walkway is super annoying. I don’t mind the hopping as much in all of the other zones, especially since I realized that it always jumps you in the direction you’re moving.
