The Queue: I’ve given up on tracking time

No, this isn’t a joke Queue.

It’s just an out of order Queue, because it’s 2020 and time has stopped having any meaning. So let’s ignore the calendar and get to questions.

LOTHARFX ASKED:

QfRossi: Tomorrow is LuotianX’s birthday. Can we have a Luotian themed Queue, or an X (roman numeral ten) themed Queue? Or at least a non-April Fool’s Day happy birthday for her?

I’m not very good at theming. Maybe we could have done ten questions. Or questions all from LuotianX. Or questions chosen by LuotianX? But I’m not really good at themes, so you’re just going to have to cope with this perfectly ordinary (albeit slightly out of order) Queue.

Oh, right, I almost forgot.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY LUOTIANX! Yeah! You’ve made it through another year and it’s time to celebrate! /throws confetti

I would have made that multicolored and blinking, but I’m sure that’s an internet crime these days. Nevertheless, have a great day. It’s the least the world can do for you.

ROWSDOWA ASKED:

Are Horrific Visions the only way to get [insert-adjective-that-I-forget-here] Mementos?

Ny’alotha, as was mentioned in the comments, is your next best bet for mementos — even LFR will do it (though you’ll have to brave LFR). Certain mobs in the raid drop a good pile of mementos for you, and any remotely decent group will stop to kill them. (Read: ymmv.) Other than that, you get a scant few from clearing assaults, but it’s not something that’s going to heavily boost your count.

The core thing mementos do is make you better at running Visions, and Blizzard has really set it up that way. The more Visions you run, the more mementos you get, and the better you are at Visions. Of course the downside is to anyone who really wants the cool (and expensive) cosmetic items that are sold for mementos… particularly if you don’t like running Visions. I’m definitely in that boat.

KALCHEUS THE FLUFFY ASKED:

Q4tQ: Who do you prefer to represent the Black Dragonflight going forward, Spiritwalker Ebonhorn or Wrathion?

Honestly I’m not bowled over by either’s leadership qualities. Wrathion showed up on our adventure in Pandaria, warned us of terrible dangers ahead, and then noped out of the whole affair for two expansions — or six years in real time. The guy is a flake who comes and goes from our lives as he pleases, and expects us to be happy when he deigns to grace us with his time. (Kudos to Anduin for punching him, because he deserved it.) Wrathion simply cannot be counted on for anything, except perhaps to serve his own interests. He plays things so close to the vest it’s hard to say.

Is his caginess a means of protecting his flight, or at least his own legacy? Perhaps. But he’s still awfully self-centered and doesn’t particularly care for anyone other than himself. Maybe that works for the current lack of the Black Dragonflight… but if the Black Dragons found a way to return, those aren’t great leadership qualities.

Ebonhorn, on the other hand, has spent his entire life pretending not to even be a dragon. That’s kind of fair, considering the reputation his Flight has. But it’s an abdication of any kind of role, much less a leadership role. However, he’s steady and level-headed — it seems likely that he would be a better leader. There’s just no sign that he wants to be.

Of course as long as there isn’t a Black Dragonflight to speak of, this is rather a moot point. Wrathion is the defacto leader in that he is the only one interested in taking on the role, and I expect that’s how it will stay.

And that’s probably for the best. Level-headed characters aren’t always interesting characters. Wrathion is a force of chaos, and you can never be sure what he’ll do next. The kid has entertainment value. And great hair. Maybe that’s all he needs.

HOPE_M ASKED:

How is everyone staying sane in these trying times?

I am playing a lot of video games, though sanity levels are certainly still questionable.

GREEBO ASKED:

Which is better? Cake or Pie?

I have to go with what I think is the less popular choice and say cake. It’s soft and sweet on the inside, gooey and sweet on the outside. And usually also beautiful, because the decoration options with cake are really unmatched for style, form, and color.

I often find pie has fillings that are too sweet combined with crusts that are too bland. Sure, a good pie is… well, a good pie. But you’re more likely to get a steady result with cake. (Plus more decor.)

Cake! It’s what’s for dinner!

Or breakfast. Really you do what you want.

ENO ASKED:

QfRossi: What motivates your warriors?

I am obviously not Rossi, but I have to say this comic misrepresents the classes I’ve played seriously: namely Paladin and Priest.

Trust me when I say that Priests are not trying to be better people. They’re here because they have total control over life and death. Your life and death. You want to stay on your Priest’s good side so you never learn the sort of danger they can put you in with a perfectly timed life grip.

And Paladins are just Priests who like hitting things with heavy objects. But the mentality is similar. I was a Priest for a while in Vanilla and Burning Crusade, and I transitioned to Paladin because I was tired of dying so quickly and plate armor goes a long way to survivability. Maybe with the current leveling buff I’ll revisit my Priest, but it definitely won’t be on a quest to become a better person.

RED SAID:

Q4TQ: what is the most satisfying questing moment in WoW, and why is it beating the crap out of Nathanos on the deck of the Skyfire until he cowers?

Is there a question in there? I don’t see a question in there.
