What old WoW dungeon or raid encounters would you still like to see made quicker?
Raise your hand if you know what “Dranosh” means. I know I sure as heck do, because the RP that explains all of this in Icecrown Citadel takes about 5 hours, and I have to see it every single time I go in there to farm Rotface for the transmog I need. The Suarfang encounter in ICC is one of many old boss encounters that seems to take so long it instantly doubles or triples the entire length of a transmog run. Another encounter that does similar? Ultraxion in Dragon Soul.
Technically, there’s also a ton of RP even earlier, but the “listen to RP, kill a bunch of dragons, then the boss appears” aspect of Ultraxion feels like the most egregious aspect of Dragon Soul… which is saying something for a raid that includes Spine of Deathwing. Regardless, there’s a lot there that just winds up being a time sink with no control on the player’s part over how fast things move. For players just after one specific piece — say one off of Warmaster Blackhorn — it ends up being a giant pain in the butt that slows down the entire farming run.
Ultraxion and Saurfang are just two examples of old encounters that add a whole lot of time to what would otherwise be one-shot-and-done-shot runs. I’m sure there are a lot more out there, both in raids and in dungeons. That’s where all of you come in. Especially with Shadowlands on the horizon — i.e., a time that would be great to revisit old encounters for QA purposes — now seems like a perfect moment to voice your thoughts on what needs to be made quicker.
What dungeon or raid encounter do you want sped up? What has just a liiiiittle too much dialog in it? What do you think needs an update before Shadowlands hits to make it a smoother, quicker farming run?
