The Queue: What do you get a Baroness

What do you get a Baroness who has it all? Turns out, it’s the freshly severed heads of mighty foes. Who knew?

I just unlocked my Ember Court’s fourth upgrade and I get to invite the fanciest of people to my parties now. I’m very happy to report that my wild and dangerous decadent party full of wacky misadventures really did the trick — the Baroness left extremely happy. Now I just have to see if I can pull it off again next week with Mikanikos.

While I obsess over table settings, I take you now to — The Queue.

SATURDAY NIGHT WANNA MEET MY SOEROAH

Imagine if Azshara and Denathrius teamed up

On the first pass, they do have a lot in common. They’re both supremely powerful narcissists who command countless forces willing to lay down their lives for them. Azshara might actually like some of her subjects though, there’s no way that Denathrius does even in the slightest. If they’re not useful to him in some way, he’d send them to the Ember Ward faster than you can blink.

I give it a week before Azshara has deposed Denathrius and is living her best life and throwing parties that would make the Ember Court look like a fast-food restaurant birthday room. Not even the good location’s birthday room, the one across town that always smells like birds for some reason.

RIGHT NOW JAXDADDY COULDN’T MAKE ENDS MEET

I am Appalachian enough to look at a skillet full of frying Spam and go, “Oy, yeah. That is getting crispy.”

Which leads me to another QftQ: You do have skillets or pans?

Frying pans here.

I’ve never done fried spam, but I have done fried bologna. Tasty stuff.

SILVERKEG’S ALWAYS WORKIN’ SLAVIN’ EVERY DAY

I remember doing daily quests for the crazy blue ladies (Hyldnir?) in WotLK & getting my White Polar Bear mount in < 4 weeks. I know other players have done those quests for months on end only to get salted yeti cheese for their efforts. I got the Headless Horseman’s Mount in my 3rd year (maybe 4th) of trying while other players have never once seen it drop.

Q4TQ: All in all, how has RNG treated you in WoW? Any places where your lucky-do’s got the job done or has it all been sack cloth and ashes?

GOTTA GET A BREAK FROM THAT KALCHEUS

Q4tQ What do you think we’re getting first via the 9.1 storyline: mounting in the maw, or flying in the rest of Shadowlands?

I bet it’s mounting in the Maw. The way they talked up the story during BlizzConline made it seem like taking the fight into the Maw would be pretty high on the list of priorities and what’s a good invasion without mounted cavalry?

DON’T NEED NOTHIN’ BUT A GOOD DR_BOMBAY

how can anyone be tired of Khadgar??

I’m as mystified as you are, he was great!!

But they did lean on him fairly hard for two expansions in a row so I can see why they’re giving him a bit of a break. Just like how I’d be surprised if we see much of Bwonsamdi in the next expansion. Absence makes the heart grow fonder and all that.

All I know is that he better show up again soon with more awesomely amazing alliterative asks about activities and absurd amounts of artifacts to acquire.

HOW CAN RED RESIST

Q4TQ: why does my mount ignore my call within the Maw?

Back in this article about the Shadehound Hunt in the Maw, I speculated that it’s super-hell and why wouldn’t your mount ignore your call. It’s scary there! Then some people pointed out that non-living mounts like flying discs and motorcycles also refuse to come when you call, and so back to the drawing board I went.

My best guess is that we’re calling all of these mounts out of a parallel dimension that we’ve set up for them. A nice place where they can run and play and have regular oil checks — the works! But the Maw is too much of a bummer to let such happy, well-cared-for mounts and machines exist in it, so we’re stuck riding the ones that were made in the Maw. If you can get them that is.

DON’T GET BETTER THAN MUSEDMOOSE

Q4tQ: what was your first-ever WoW mount?

Mine was a red hawkstrider, for my blood elf hunter back in BC. She was the first character I ever got to that high-level, and she had both red hair and a red raptor pet, so of course I had to get the red bird. I remember both being very happy to finally have a mount and very annoyed that it disappeared whenever it got into water past its ankles.

My very first character was a Dwarf, so it must’ve been a Ram. I don’t remember much about it, except that I would’ve felt very fancy running in circles in Ironforge waiting for a dungeon group to get filled up.

My first flying mount would’ve been a Wyvern, and I know that I spent an hour just flying around Outland. Even at the 60% move speed that basic flying used to be, it was still so much fun. The first flying mount that I really remember grinding for though was the Cenarion Hippogryph. There’s something about Hippogryphs that I love very much. Maybe it’s fond memories of Warcraft 3, maybe it’s just that they have a better animation rig than Wyverns, either way — I have a whole bunch. Including one pretty rare Corrupted Hippogryph that I paid a pretty penny for in trade chat.
