The Queue: i can be your angle… or yuor devil

Y’know, the Overwatch MVP skins have been hit or miss for me — even before any particular controversies arose — but this Echo skin feels leagues above the rest. I hate how much I want it. (Also, yes, the joke was super easy to make and yes, it has already been made by others. I still went for it.)

Anyhow, it’s Thursday, which means it’s time for The Queue!

Let’s Queue it.

LUOTIANX UNDERSTANDS BEING TIRED:

Today has been a long day and I am very tired. How is everyone else?

Well, I crashed super early last night and ended up waking up several hours before my usual alarm to edit things and write this Queue, so I’m a bit sleepy right now.

That said, Day Job work’s been incredibly busy the last month or so (if my absences hadn’t qlueued you into that), but this week has finally been a bit slower. It’s nice, and I really needed it.

I don’t know how long it will last, but for now, I’m enjoying the lull while I can.

DIAMONDDUSTVIII WANTS MORE LOWER-CASE QUEUES:

Do you think it’s time to look at the idea of queueing for Mythic dungeon groups, like we do for Normal/Heroic? I don’t think anyone (including myself) has an issue with the current system, but what kind of requirements/rewards would you want for playing Russian Roulette with your Mythic run, if such a thing were to exist?

I think letting us at least queue for Mythic 0 would be a welcome QOL change, but I can see why Blizz might not want us to — if the idea is that you have a static 5-man group to push through M+, then that should start from the very bottom.

Of course, “very bottom” is subjective and could easily mean Heroic or Normal dungeons, which you can queue for. So ultimately, I’d be fine a Mythic queuing system.

As far as rewards, I don’t know if it needs any beyond the usual, and the more you add, the more complicated implementation becomes. I think Valor Points are a fine enough reward, to be honest, because I don’t really want to add more currencies to what we already have. But also, it would be nice if, alongside random Mythic queuing, Blizz let us change our keys with enough Valor Points. Getting the wrong key can be a real pain, especially if your group is pushing that one final dungeon to get your Raider.io score up. So maybe just let us farm Valor in random Mythics and then use that Valor to choose what dungeon our key goes to (without downgrading the level). I think I’d like that.

KALCHEUS LIKES DARGONS:

Would you rather Blizzard add a Dragonborn-style playable race or something more like the Dragonkin from Pathfinder?

Realistically, one of those works a lot better than the other. But for the sake of ridiculousness, I’m gonna pick the Dragonkin because I really want to see a dragon running around in nothing but pants that were designed for humanoids.

GADDEONOFTHEBASTION ASKS ABOUT TBCC:

Has anyone here covered the warpstalker mount that was datamined from the WoW classic side of things? It seems no matter what your opinion on keeping the purity of the original game is it’d still be news. Questions to be answered as well, if you get the mount for classic do you get it on modern WoW too? Some people like to use older mounts in current WoW because they earned them, if you earn something in classic wow should you be able to use it in modern wow? If they do let you use the mount in both versions will this open up transmog options for old and even removed gear sets, that sort of thing

You bring up a lot of good questions, but the short answer is that we don’t have answers for any of them. All we really know is that datamining has pointed to two toys and a mount being in the files for BC Classic, and the abbreviation “TBCC:DE” points to them being Deluxe Edition rewards.

As for why we haven’t covered it yet, well, we’ve been moving away from “This thing exists!” news for a while now. Especially when it comes to datamining, most of our readers will have already seen the Wowhead post about it, so our goal is to cover it in a way that goes beyond that initial “Here’s a thing” post.

And if we’re covering it in a way that (hopefully) adds a new angel, it takes a bit more time to write (and also depends on writer interest). The bottom line is that we’ll probably cover it when we get more definitive info on everything, because having that info allows us to better answer (or at least discuss) the points you brought up above.

ARTHONOS WANTS TO TEST 9.1:

Q4tQ: So if Burning Crusade Classic is hitting the beta servers, does that mean it is eating up all the test realm resources? Given that patches take 2 months to test, is the 9.1 release window on the verge of slipping out of spring and into summer?

For starters, the servers and the teams behind those servers are different for Classic and modern WoW, so there shouldn’t be an issues with testing two things at once. I mean, I’m sure there’s some overlap here and there in the actual people helping with things, but for all intents and purposes, Classic testing shouldn’t affect modern testing.

My guess for 9.1 is still June/July, and I haven’t seen anything that’s changed that yet!

ARTHONOS GETS A TWOFER:

Think we’ll see any short form raids this expansion? And do you prefer them to be between raid tiers like Crucible of Storms or Trial of Valor, or would you rather they be on the same tier as a normal raid like Eye of Eternity and Obsidian Sanctum?

I really hope we get some! And Blizzard’s had at least one of them the past two expansions, so it makes sense we’d see another this time around. I like the mini-raids when they feel in between tiers, to be honest. Give us something that feels like an upgrade without feeling like a mandatory step to gearing for whatever comes next. If raids tiers normally jump 20 item levels, make the smaller raid a 10-ilvl increase.

I also like the idea of making the mini-raids rewards feel more unique (like weapons with procs or trinkets with super cool effects), but those are also sometimes better suited for the final tier of an expansion.

SOEROAH TEASES ME WITH AN AWESOME IDEA:

What would a Xal’atath keyblade be like?

I have no idea but it’s now the only thing I need in my life. Google results for “Xal’atath keyblade” are also not really coming up with much, so I can’t even turn to the internet to satiate my curiosity here. THANKS, SOEROAH!

MISTAH JAY [A REAL MOD] IS NOT A REAL MOD:

Do you have a favourite Megaman game?

I’ve played almost zero Mega Man games, but I do remember absolutely loving one of the Battle Network games for Game Boy Advance — which, now that I type out what is effectively “Battle Net,” I realize my whole life has been leading to me playing Blizz games.

Anyhow, that is the Mega Man game I know best, and all I remember is getting pretty sucked into it and really enjoying the experience.

DUTRIMI LETS ME CLOSE THIS OUT WITH A MINI-RANT:

On the upside apparently Rossi doesn’t care about Walden.

Walden is the worst. Few books stand out to me as being overrated, pretentious garbage the way Walden did. Granted, I think I made it about 18 pages into it before I threw it in the air and declared it The Worst, but I’m pretty sure it doesn’t drastically change in the remaining endless amount of pages.

Some classics I find solid, others I find don’t hold up. Walden is in a league of its own as far as awful “classics,” and I still think about it to this day whenever the topic of bad books comes up.

On that note, that’s The Queue for today! I’ve missed y’all, so I hope you have an extra-special great day.
