How excited are you for Burning Crusade Classic?

I’m not saying you have to be excited for the coming of Burning Crusade Classic. After all, a lot of you were excited for WoW Classic and I was notoriously not all that into it, so it would be the height of hypocrisy for me to argue that you should be charged up now, just because I am. But it would also be wildly disingenuous for me to pretend I’m not excited for it. I’m not even really sure why — I raided in both vanilla and BC, I main tanked and DPS’d in both, I have good memories of both the original endgame and the expansion. So why did WoW Classic leave me cold, but Burning Crusade Classic has me looking forward to it?

I don’t know. Perhaps it’s because I find the some changes mentality of this release to be more honest and thus more refreshing than WoW Classic. Maybe I just liked the content better — The Burning Crusade was when WoW first got weird, when we went to an alien world utterly unlike Azeroth, where the balance of the Alliance and the Horde were thrown into disarray by new arrivals — it was the first time WoW really got to dig into the stranger and more cosmic aspects of the overall story of Warcraft. I was excited for it then, and I’m excited for it now.

It was also when I struggled to find my footing as a player, with the talent trees getting bloated and Paladins and Druids actually dethroning Warriors as the preferred tanks for 5 player content due to their superior AoE threat. Then, in raiding, those tanks got wrecked and Warriors came back, and I found myself suddenly desired again. Also, I was raiding on a computer about as powerful as a potato clock. So a mixed bag, and yet, I’m definitely eager to get to see it all again.

So what about you? Are you like me, excited to go back? Did you never play TBC and you’re curious to get to explore it for the first time? Or are you disinclined to care? What are you feeling about the upcoming Burning Crusade Classic?
