What kind of content do you find the most appealing in World of Warcraft?

World of Warcraft has been described many times as a “theme park MMO.” That is to say: It has a large variety of different features, that try to appeal to all kinds of players. From the most casual to the most hardcore; from those who love the story to those who only want to min/max their numbers; from those who want to kill internet dragons to those who want to kill players from the other faction, WoW seems to have something for anyone and everyone.

With that said, it often feels like certain types of content or features are designed for a very limited number of players. Mythic raiding and Rated PVP seem to be areas that only a very small portion of the playerbase takes advantage of. Yet those pieces of content still hold a lot of prestige, and exist as a shining beacon that many of us pay close attention to, as evidenced by the success of elements like the race to world first. And this has been true since the beginning: even back when WoW was a young game, and any kind of raiding at all was restricted to the more hardcore players, those who didn’t even partake in it would still be awed by seeing people in full sets of Tier armor, or sporting Legendary weapons, idling around Stormwind or Orgrimmar.

On the other hand, there are those of us who refuse to participate in any kind of group content at all, and are perfectly satisfied with playing the game almost like a single player RPG. And it’s understandable: Despite the fact that WoW is an MMO, experiences in automated grouping systems like LFG and LFR aren’t always positive — to say the least. Some people just want to immerse themselves into the world of Warcraft, play through all sorts of questlines, from mundane to epic, and level up their characters. And it’s fully within their right to do so.

How about you? Do you raid, or not? Did you raid in the past, but can no longer find the time or motivation to commit to it anymore? (That’s me, I’m that guy.) Do you participate in PVP, or do you avoid it like the plague? Are you invested in the story, or are you the sort of player who skips all quest text and just wants to “get to the good parts” as soon as possible? What kind of content appeals to you, and what would you like to see WoW offer more of?
