The Queue: Oops all Falrinn
What a weird factory mixup in your regular Queue production — this one seems to be all Falrinn…
While I try and figure out which machine broke to give us this mess, it’s time for — The Queue.
QftQ: While the safe bet is to assume that this will wait for 10.0 if it does become a thing, what are the chances we could see some cross-faction game play in patch 9.2 and what form could it take?
My guess is that if it does happen it will be a sequestered feature, either Torghast or something specific to patch 9.2. Something to both get the average player used to the idea, and to help expose and resolve any technical issues that are fundamental to Alliance and Horde characters being in the same groups.
I’d say slim to none. I feel like Cross-Faction is more than just a toggle switch kind of change, and even in a major expansion patch, we might not be seeing them devoting that sort of time to getting it implemented. Especially with how recently Ion started talking about it.
I do agree that it’s likely we’ll see it in 10.0 though.
I wonder if the encounter team will have to design fights differently to account for every possible racial ability working together. Or if the Racial abilities are so insignificant that it won’t really be an issue.
QftQ: With the 9.2 PTR likely around the corner, it occurs to me that we might also get a cinematic from early in the patch that serves as a trailer. So what do you think the trailer will include?
The most probable option I think is a glimpse into what the Jailer is doing in Zereth Mortis, probably via Anduin in a moment of resistance.
Alternatively we could have another confrontation between Tyrande and Sylvanas, though this time it’s not a violent confrontation as Sylvanas is in a position where she has none of the power. She can’t even bargain with the information she has because she now has as much to lose with the Jailer’s victory as everyone else does. Not sure if a trailer cinematic is the right format for this, but I do expect this confrontation to take place.
The crazier options would be the introduction of a new figure from Azeroth’s past. Probably either Arthas or Varian. In Varian’s case I hope they would take the opportunity to introduce Tiffin as well.
I’m with you on the Varian idea. If there was anything left of his soul after Gul’Dan turned him into a little pile of ash, it’s weird we haven’t seen him at all.
I do think that Tyrande and Sylvanas makes more sense from telling a story perspective, you have the conversation happening between them, and then as Sylvanas is talking you get glimpses of what the Jailer’s plans were/are and how they’re unfolding now that he’s gotten all of the sigils.
As a wild third option maybe we’ll just get Zovaal explaining what his plan is and how he’ll grind our bones to make his bread. It’d be a good way to get some of his motivation out in a straightforward manner, even if there’s no real reason he should have to explain what he’s going to do to Anduin.
QftQ: Guess what the name of patch 9.2 will be.
Here’s mine:
– Reality’s End
– Realm of the First Ones
– Legends of Zereth Mortis
– The Final Key
– Fate’s Ending
Throne of the First Ones
Throne of Reality
Reality’s Heart
Shadows Rise
Shadowlands Fall
I do like Fate’s Ending, but how much more Fate fighting are we going to have to do since that we’ve already fought our fates in the Fatescribe Roh-Kalo fight.
QftQ: 9.2 hypothetical: If at some point early in the patch’s story we journey to a previously unvisited Afterlife to pick up one hero from Azeroth’s past to help fight the Jailer. Who should it be?
I want to go to the dragon afterlife and pick up a bunch of the great dragons that we’ve killed over the years. Sure some of them were a little evil, but who knows how long they’ve had in the afterlife to get over that. Wouldn’t it be amazing if we had the gigantic arcane power of Malygos at our disposal to help fight Zovaal? What about the Deep Breaths of Onyxia. Having more dragons to throw at any problem is a great way to solve any problem.
Since Cory Asked for another question…
QftQ: Since it’s possible that 9.2 will be the final patch of Shadowlands, as with most final bosses (Garrosh in MoP being the only real exception) we are going to need help to defeat Zovaal. Who do you think we will be getting help from?
I was going to say someone like Bolvar, Thrall, or Jaina… but they did just help us out with Sylvanas. So I don’t know that we’d get much help from them, it’s just too soon narratively. Likewise the Covenant Leaders, they’re powerful, but none feel like they’re really willing to get their hands dirty alongside us against Zovaal. With the exception of the Primus from Maldraxxus, but I bet that he’ll be put out of commission at some point in the 9.2 questing.
So that doesn’t leave too many other major figures, Sylvanas is still kicking around, but I don’t think that she’ll be allowed out to help us from whatever jail she’s being kept in. So by process of elimination that just leaves Anduin. If this is the final patch, we’ll need to have broken the Jailers Mind Control of him at some point, and then he’ll use all of that Priestly power that he has, and maybe augment it a little with some remnants of Zovaal’s own power to give us the boost we need to finish the fight.
