5 awesome cards to use at Marvel SNAP’s Featured Location, Lamentis-1

Marvel SNAP rolled out the first Featured Location of the new The Power Cosmic season, Lamentis-1. Featured Locations, for those unaware, typically change over on Tuesdays and make a specific location more likely to appear.

Let’s take a look at some great cards to use while Lamentis-1 is the Featured Location, though all of these cards will work to your benefit whenever you encounter Lamentis-1 in the future.

What is Lamentis-1? What’s the key to winning when Lamentis-1 is up?

Ah, love — though, if hanging out with a variant of yourself on a doomed world as its moon crashes into it wiping out all life sounds like a romantic date to you, you might just be the Norse god of mischief. We visited Lamentis-1 in the first season of Loki. There, Loki and Sylvie race across the planet to find a ship that can ferry them off world while falling in love with each other. Themselves? I’m not sure. The multiverse can be complicated.

The Lamentis-1 Location in Marvel SNAP plays into this back story. The moon crashes into your deck in a cool animation. You’re left with whatever is in your hand, plus three cards the Location draws for you. It’s now up to you to use your limited resources to win the game. One trick that can help you in Lamentis games is checking how many cards your opponent has left in their hand. You do this by tapping on their portrait. Once they’ve played all their cards, you know the state of the board and can plan accordingly. For this reason, it is often a good idea to not play all your cards before the final turn.

Great cards to use on Lamentis-1

Death

The destroyed cards in both decks count as destroyed cards for Death’s cost reduction. She is going to be a 0-Cost, 12-Power card if you were lucky enough to draw her before Lamentis blew up your deck.

Sunspot

Since you may not want to play cards every turn, you’ll have left over energy making Sunspot a great choice. You might want to run Armor to protect him from an enemy Killmonger (On Reveal: Destroy ALL 1-Cost cards) or Electra (On Reveal: Destroy a random enemy 1-Cost card at this location). If you’ve progressed into Series 4 and Series 5, She Hulk (Costs 1 less for each unspent Energy last turn) makes another good addition since the left over Energy will reduce her cost.

Doc Oct

Doctor Octopus takes advantage of the fact that your opponent doesn’t have many cards in their hand. You drop him on turn five and its likely he’s going to pull every card out of your opponent’s hand and place it on the board. That leaves your opponent no resources to play on turn six. You can know going into turn six if you can flip the other two Locations — assuming whatever Doc Oct pulled puts you too far behind at the Location you played him.

Thor

Thor needs to draw Mjölnir to attain his full power. With a full deck, sometimes you aren’t going to draw it without a cad like Jane Foster (On Reveal: Draw all cards that Cost 0 from your deck). With a Lamentis destroyed deck, you’re guaranteed to pull Mjolnir the turn after the play Thor.

Strong Guy

With Lamentis in play, it’s going to be much easier to empty your hand since you won’t have any new cards coming in. This should Strong Guy far more consistent. Just be sure you plan out your moves so you do empty your hand if you’re going to play him.

Bonus card: Agent 13

Without a deck to draw from, you’re going to get short on resources fast. Cards like Cable (On Reveal: Put the bottom card of your opponent’s deck into your hand) and Mantis (On Reveal: If your opponent played a card here this turn, draw a card from their deck) don’t help since there’s not opponent deck to pull from. Agent 13 simply creates a card. It’ll be random so the results will vary quite a bit, but it’s one more resource you wouldn’t have otherwise. If you’re in Series 4 and Series 5, Agent Coulson (On Reveal: Add a random 4-cost and 5-cost card to your hand) or Maria Hill (On Reveal: Add a random 1-Cost card to your hand) can provide a similar effect.

What are your ideas?

Lamentis-1 limits your options. You have to make each card count. Whether it is in your Location pool due to the event, or just one of the randomly chosen ones after the event, hopefully these cards and tips help you win!
