The decks you need to win the Blood Magic Wild Hearthstone Tavern Brawl

Do you like fast games and OTK decks capable of killing an opponent before turn 3? Are you ready to sacrifice your measly hit points for UNLIMITED power? Well, Sheev Palpatine wannabe, you’re going to love this week’s Blood Magic Hearthstone Tavern Brawl.
Tavern Brawl basics
- Name: Blood Magic
- Description: How much are you willing to sacrifice for power? All your spells will cost health instead of mana!
- Fun level: 0/10
- Difficulty: 8/10
- Replayability: 2/10
- Format: Wild
- Type: PVP
- Deck: Constructed
- Rewards: 1 Standard card pack (can contain any card from any set in the current Standard rotation)
It’s amazing how changing a single word in the Brawl rules can radically alter the results. You think you’ve played this Brawl before, but you haven’t. It’s a slight tweak to the Blood Magic Standard Brawl, but this time around it’s a Wild Brawl, as it was when it was first introduced back in 2017. As a constructed wild Brawl, the overall size of your collection will make a huge difference in the decks you can play.
The core gimmick to the Brawl remains the same. Your spells cost health instead of mana. You can cast as many spells in a given turn as your health total and card draw prowess will allow.
How to win Blood Magic Wild Tavern Brawl
Some players try to strike a balance between staying alive and casting spells to either build their board or deal damage to their opponent. With no rating to lose in this mode, some players go all in on winning with the right mulligan and concede if they don’t.
The most important thing you’ll need to win this Brawl is a good deck. In constructed Brawls, players discover the most powerful lists very quickly, which leads to the Brawl falling into a meta structure like we see on the ladder.
New Blood Magic Brawl decks for February 2023
2023’s Blur Demon Hunter
Deck code:
AAEBAdD8BQAP4LwD2cYD78kD1tED29MDxd0D2d4DwvEDifcDyIAEtp8EtKAEmLoEhpIFiZIFAA==
Alternate deck code:
AAEBAea5AwKAhQT+vwQO4LwD2cYD78kD29MDxd0D2d4DifcDyIAEyoAEtp8EtKAEmLoEhpIFiZIFAA==
Same idea as previous years, just with a couple of cards swapped out for newer options.
2023’s Oaken Summons Druid
Deck code:
AAEBAcaLBQLmugPanwQOlwHSA8EEtwaaCPzNAofOAoTmAr/yAuW6A6LhA6+ABIefBLClBAA=
Like Demon Hunter, it is the same basic strategy/concept as previous years, just with a couple of tweaks for 2023.
Solid Albi Mage
Deck code:
AAEBAf0EAA+sAZYFo7YCtPwC99ED0OwD0ewDio0EopIE/J4E/Z4E4bkE8NMEyt4EgpMFAA==
This deck is fairly dependent upon surviving turn 1, and getting Solid Albi out on turn 2.
Older Blood Magic Brawl decks
Here are some older decks to try out. Since this is a Wild Brawl, all of the decks from the previous version of the Brawl can still be used as well.
Frontlines Paladin
Deck code:
AAEBAZ8FBK8ExRX8/AK/gAQN+gGZArMDvQPSA9IE4hHGwgLPhgOS1ASB4gTA4gT18QQA
This comes from user Pacific_Onion on Heathpwn. The plan is to mulligan hard for Frontlines, and buff your assortment of Charge minions with your spells to end the game, preferable on turn one.
Stonetusk Paladin
Deck code:
AAEBAZ8FAA9G+gGzA9IEiAWnBfIL4hGdFe3SAuyGA8rBA+PrA5mfBJqfBAA=
Mulligan hard for your Stonetusk Boar, Flash of Light, and Divine Favor. Do some quick math in your head. If you can drop a Stonetusk Boar and buff him to lethal, do it and take the W. If you can’t, you can try on turn 2 if you live that long given how many other turn 1 OTK decks are out there.
Blur Demon Hunter
Deck Code:
AAEBAaarBAAP4LwD2cYD1MgD1cgD78kDgtAD1tED29MD3dMD+dUDxd0D2d4D8+MDtp8E1p8EAA=
Alternate Deck Code:
AAEBAbn5AwLMugPRzQMO4LwD2cYD1tEDzNIDzdID29MDxd0DzN0Dz90D2d4D8+MDwvEDtp8EtKAEAA==
Both decks abuse Blur, which prevents you from taking damage from any other spells you cast that turn. Once you’re protected, load up on damage like Twin Slice, Chaos Strike, and Inner Demon. Use Relentless Pursuit/Soul Fragments for life gain and lean into the card draw strength of Demon Hunter.
Violet Illusionist and Oaken Summons Combo Druid
Deck Code:
AAEBAZICBP+tAtfvAu+6A7rQAw3mBZGzAofOAoTmAr/yAtulA7GsA/ytA+W6A4rgA9HhA4zkA9qfBAA=
Alternate code:
AAEBAZarBAAPQMEEtwaaCJGzAqe9AvzNAofOAoTmAr/yAuW6A4rgA6LhA9qfBLigBAA=
This deck has a ton of minion generators, card draw, buffs plus the Oaken Summons/Violet Illusionist combo to stop you from taking damage from the spells you cast.
No minions OTK Druid
Deck Code:
AAEBAZICAA9A0wPBBIUGtwaaCPzNAofOAr/yAtulA+W6A4rgA6LhA9qfBLmgBAA=
Minions? We don’t need no stinkin’ minions. Load up on damage and healing and hope your APM is fast enough to close out the game before your opponent even gets their turn.
Slam Hunter
Deck Code:
AAEBAR8C8uoC5Z8EDqgCtQPNFseuAurjAoL9AqKKA9ePA5+lA/u7A6mfBKqfBOSfBLugBAA=
Hunters’ weakness in card draw shows up in a big way in this Brawl. Mulligan hard for Nagrand Slam and your other damage spells.
Burn Mage
Deck Code:
AAECAf0EBKAFnpsDzp0Dgb8DDa8BuwK0BO0ElgW/CLmYA5+bA/WsA8G4A4XNA83OA/fRAwA=
Throw everything you can at their face and burn them down before you die. This is one of the less expensive options. If you’re on a budget, this is the deck I’d try.
Libram Paladin
Deck Code:
AAEBAb+PBAAP+gHSBOkP7dIC9tICsukCz4YD7IYDipoD6rkDysEDg94D+t4DzOsDmZ8EAA==
Mulligan hard for Time Out. Ensuring you live to Turn 3 is a huge advantage in this Brawl. You also want Lay on Hands and Libram of Hope. You use your spells to summon a veritable army of Taunts.
YOLO Ripper Warrior
Deck Code:
AAEBAQcI9gKvBPwEuQ2CDqirAvKoA4igBAvx0wLq5wLF8wLYjAOWlAOAqAOXrQPbrQPzuwPS0QPu6QMA
This is something of a YOLO deck. Mulligan hard for Dimensional Ripper, Commencement, and Gather Your Party. If you don’t get them, concede. Hope that Ripper or Gather hits Y’Sharjj or one of your big taunts. Try to wait until you’ve already lost some health before you play your Armor cards.
More Blood Magic Wild lists
Hopefully, one of these decks listed here should get you the W. Keep checking Hearthstone Top Decks, because there are more Tavern Brawl decks being added by the hour. If you find another great list, share it with us in the comments.
It’s rare to see a game go past turn three. The Brawl becomes a test of who got their powerful 10 mana spell in their mulligan. These super fast games with players achieving OTK in turn one or two are not my preferred playstyle, but for those who do enjoy it, this Brawl is custom made to entertain.
