Blizzard Watch Weekly Wrap-up: April’s Trading Post rewards arrive, and a new Hearthstone expansion is coming

Ready or not, the week is over and Monday is fast approaching. Here’s everything you need to know from the Blizzard universe in the past week.

Now live

  • April’s Trading Post rewards are now live in WoW, and you can snag a shiny magenta cloud serpent mount and plenty of transmog throughout the month by completing a few activities you’ll probably be doing anyway. Check your in-game Adventure Guide for this month’s list of tasks, as well as our guide on how to earn Trader’s Tender to buy these rewards.
  • It’s time for the Turbulent Timeways event to bring months of Timewalking events to WoW. It’s Cataclysm Timewalking through this week’s reset (Tuesday for NA and Wednesday for EU), and Mists of Pandaria Timewalking starts after reset.
  • The Darkmoon Faire is back in town, bringing another opportunity to earn a few free skill points and extra profession knowledge for Dragonflight players.
  • Amazon Prime subscribers can get a Big Battle Bear mount in WoW (plus a few other Blizzard goodies) through Prime Gaming this month. (And if you aren’t a Prime subscriber, you can get them by signing up for a free trial.) Amazon says this is only the first of a series of monthly rewards for World of Warcraft, so stay tuned.

Coming soon

  • Hearthstone’s Festival of Legends expansion is nearly here: it goes live on April 11. The expansion will kick off the Year of the Wolf which comes with a new Core Set rotation, which will certainly give the meta a big shakeup.
  • To celebrate the coming expansion, Hearthstone will also be giving away packs via Twitch drops this coming week. Watch anything in the Hearthstone category on Twitch on April 5 – April 6 to earn up to two Festival of Legends packs. You’ll find a lot of big streamers doing theorycrafting with the expansion’s new cards, so it’s a good time to see what to expect. On April 6 and April 7 from 10am – 12:30pm pacific each day the official Hearthstone Twitch channel will be streaming a Festival of Legends concert, where you can earn up to one Festival of Legends pack as well as get in on mega-bundle giveaways.

Yes, we’re still talking about Diablo 4

We can’t help it: we really enjoyed the beta and we’re still putting together some opinion pieces and guides on the game, even though some of them won’t be very useful until later.

For TTRPG fans

  • The new D&D movie came out this week, and unlike the last D&D movie, it’s getting positive reviews — 90% compared to 10% on Rotten Tomatoes. I even have friends who don’t play D&D saying it’s a fun fantasy flick.
  • D&D Direct was last week, and we got a preview of what was coming up for the game… though we already knew most of it from the last D&D Direct event. Notable was the fact that Bigby Presents: Glory of the Giants has been delayed, meaning we won’t see any new D&D titles soon. We also learned more about the upcoming Phandelver adventure, now titled Phandelver Below: The Shattered Obelisk, in which we’ll investigate a mysterious obelisk that’s been releasing monstrous dangers around Phandalin. Both of these books are scheduled for Q3 2023, with Planescape: Adventures in the Multiverse and The Book of Many Things scheduled for Q4 2023. The last half of the year is going to be packed.
  • Not into D&D right now? (There are good reasons you might be avoiding it.) Matt did a revamp of our guide on how to play Pathfinder 2nd edition. It’s a great time to check out the game which is basically D&D, but with a lot more gameplay options.

That’s all I have for this week, my friends. Next week is actually shaping up to be a quiet one, so perhaps our next roundup will be shorter! Until then, take care and have a good week.
