The Queue: J’en ai marre de moi

It’s one of those days you don’t feel like you can do anything right.

But there’s no time for self pity, we’ve got the Queue. Here’s a song that some of you might remember.

ELAINE DE SHALOTT

I had to have my brother put in my AC. It’s supposed to be 85+ degrees the next couple of days. It’s disgusting. It isn’t even April 15th yet.

It was snowing the first weekend of the month. It’ll be 20 degrees Celsius before it ends. Spring doesn’t even exist anymore up here, it’s just Winter to Mud to Blazing Death Orb to Dead Leaves to Winter.

Admittedly, 20 C isn’t that hot — it’s basically 68 F, so hardly a scorcher. But to go from intense snowfall to just shy of beach weather in a week? And trust me, by the end of May it’ll be hitting 30 C or higher. I expect that the kids that Gen Z have won’t even experience Spring as it will have long since faded into myth by the time they’re heading towards adulthood.

BOVEN WHITEHOOF

Shadow Bull dinged 70 last night in Grimrail Depot. I geared him up with the cloth armor tokens from Forbidden Reach, then decided against doing the TW weekly on him. Honestly, the WoD ones can be nightmares. So many folks have no clue how to do any of the dungeons.

It’s late in the expansion for Shadow Bull to be at max level. He’s usually one of the first alts I level, since he’s an alchemist and can support my raiding hunter. This time around, though, I just didn’t feel like playing him or my shammy enchanter.

Honestly, I’ve not had much trouble in my WoD Timewalking runs, not even in Grimrail Depot. I would recommend doing it anyway because man, a 400+ ilevel item a week for just running TW dungeons is pretty sweet. Even if I haven’t actually gotten anything good this time around.

GLOWING METEOR CARROT

Thinking about how you have to be a Shaman to dps with a shield really makes me miss gladiator stance

First off, let me say I absolutely support you and all other Warriors who miss Gladiator Stance — I thought it was a fun option for Prot Warriors to solo and still do some solid DPS and a way to encapsulate and emulate so many different tropes from fantasy. I mean, Conan often used a shield and he sure as heck wasn’t tanking anything, he was definitely murdering things.

But I do have to admit I’ve never really been all that interested in DPSing with a shield when I could instead be DPSing with a big 2h, or two big 2h weapons. Even dual wielding 1h weapons feels more fun and interesting to me than DPSing as Prot, and maybe that was the ultimate problem with Glad Stance — it didn’t feel substantially different from just tanking.

If I were going to redesign it, I’d probably put in some Glad Stance specific abilities, perhaps making it so swapping to Glad changed Shield Slam into Shield Edge so that you’re doing stuff like knocking people prone and then trying to decapitate them with the edge or rim of the shield, for one example. I definitely believe that there needed to be a distinct feeling of I’m here to kill you instead of Over here, ugly, forget that Hunter who keeps shooting you in the butt.

JALAMENOS

Possible unpopular opinion:
Treehouse of Horror are the worst episodes.

I will put the episode where we get the immortal Ape Islance/Candy Apple island exchange up against anything ever made by humans.

Otherwise, honestly, I haven’t watched The Simpsons in so long, if I’d had a kid around the time I stopped she or he legally drink in any US State.  So I am really not clued in enough to what the Simpsons even is nowadays to have an opinion on this issue.

To LuotianX

What you are describing sounds like executive dysfunction combined with anhedonia and it can absolutely come from elevated stress levels. (I have it, but from my ADHD/possible Autism, and I know how badly it sucks). I can’t really speak to your specific situation with your husband, but it looked to me like other people were giving you sound advice… well, most of them, ignore the tongue in cheek ones about fire as a solution.

Please be kind to yourself and understand that this is your brain trying to cope with the elevated stress. Hopefully that gets easier soon. I am of course not a medical or mental health professional so if it worsens please look into help, anhedonia in particular can be devastating if it persists.

Welp, that’s the Queue for today. See y’all next week. Des singes, mais ils ne sont pas si gros.
