Easy ways to earn Trading Post currency in July to get the new Dragonriding mount Grotto Netherwing Drake

Summer is in full swing with the July Trading Post offering a slew of new rewards — but if you want to enjoy some fun in the real-life sun, you may be looking for quick, easy ways to earn your Trading Post Tenders in July. You can earn up 200 extra Tenders this month by completing additional activities worth 400 points. While the extra is great, unfortunately they are not optional to earn this month’s reward — the Dragonriding mount Grotto Netherwing Drake requires reaching 1400 points.

A reminder that if you haven’t collected it yet there is a one-time bonus 500 Trader’s Tenders for purchasing Dragonflight. If there’s an item you want to purchase but don’t have enough Tenders to acquire after buying everything else, remember that you can save an item until the next month by speaking with the vendors.

Finally, activities can be completed on multiple characters. If the criteria involves multiple runs of a dungeon or raid, you can spread that out across all your characters instead of focusing on just one.

The most efficient path for point acquisition remains questing:

  • Complete 30 Quests for 200 points is extremely simple to complete. Since the game uses quests as a tracking system for other activities such as rare spawns you will probably complete this by playing the game and working on the other activities.
  • Complete 15 World Quests for 150 points, which can be any done for any expansion not just Dragonflight.
  • Earn 4000 Reputation Throughout the Dragon Isles for 150 points. This is easy, but rather slow. If you’re just starting out in Dragon Isles this may take awhile, but as long as you’re questing you’ll be earning the reputation you need for this — be sure to participate in events like the Grand Hunts and Community Feasts — even though they won’t count towards any points this month, they will get you a lot of reputation (and experience if you’re still leveling).

Raids and dungeons give big points, and aren’t necessarily difficult:

  • Defeat 25 Raid Bosses for 250 points. This is the big ticket activity every month, and it’s not as hard as it sounds because it doesn’t have to be a current raid or one wherein the creatures inside give experience when killed. As a result you can take any level 60+ character and farm pre-Legion raids — Legion starts to show an increase in difficulty that may make it take longer if you’re not yet 70 — for whatever reason, be it transmog, pets, or mounts or just to get the points.
  • Defeat 50 Dungeon Bosses for 200 points could be a good one if you’re leveling via dungeons, as you can’t “easy mode” this activity by having a high-level toon run roughshod over old dungeons. Timewalking also does not count for this, even if you’re running the Legion or Draenor Timewalking Dungeons for the Trading Post. Still, if you regularly hit level-appropriate dungeons, those dungeon bosses will add up over the month.

Those who like to fish and/or run Timewalking Dungeons will want to visit Draenor or the Broken Isles during the month:

  • Catch 50 fish in the Broken Isles and Catch 50 fish on Draenor both reward 100 points this month.

During their respective Timewalking Weeks you will also be earn points as follows:

  • July 4 through 11: Complete 1 Warlords of Draenor Timewalking Dungeon for 20 points and Complete 5 Warlords of Draenor Timewalking Dungeons for 100 points, for a total of 120 points.
  • July 25  through 31: Complete 1 Legion Timewalking Dungeon for 20 points and Complete 5 Legion Timewalking Dungeons for 100 points, for a total of 120 points.

Toys and Emotes are a good source of points in July

The emote of the month is /cheer, and you can earn points using it the following ways:

  • While the Darkmoon Faire is active the first full week of the month you can /cheer at the Tauren Chieftains and Blight Boar for 50 points.
  • If you visit the Dragon Aspects at the Seat of the Aspects in Valdrakken you can /cheer at Alexstrasza, Nozdormu, and Kalecgos for 20 points. Note that if you’re progressing in the campaign one or more may not be present.
  • A /cheer at the Super Shellkhan Gang will also reward you with 20 points. They’re summoned by the toy of the same name which is drops from the rare the Great Shellkhan. The Gang doesn’t have to be summoned by you to /cheer at it so ask around if you don’t already have it.
  • Finally while you’re at the Trading Post /cheer at the Trading Post traders and Mannequin for 20 points.

While normally these guides are written for characters that may not be 70 yet, there are some easy points that can be gained if you fly down to Loamm in the Zaralek Cavern — just don’t venture far from the town if you’re not max level. That said, if you don’t already possess three or four toys required it’s likely not worth the journey.

  • Use the Dance Dance Darkmoon Toy in Loamm for 50 points. This is likely only worth it if you’ve already earned the toy from completing the Dancing Machine achievement.
  • Use the Happy Tuskarr Palooza Toy in Loamm and Valdrakken for 50 points. This toy is earned from the Vegetarian Diet achievement in Brackenhide Hollow dungeon — the hardest part of the achievement is convincing the rest of the party to help earn it.
  • Use the Insulated Dancing Insoles in Loamm and Valdrakken for 50 points. This toy is purchased during Midsummer Fire Festival.
  • Use the Shuffling Sands Toy in Loamm, Morqut Village, and Valdrakken for 50 points. This toy is purchased in the Temporal Conflux after completing the Thaldraszus campaign. Morqut Village is located in the Forbidden Reach and like Loamm the zone is designed for max level characters. However, if you’re under 70 you can still use Dragonriding to get there, just don’t explore too far from camp.

If you see a member of the opposite faction using the Insulated Dancing Insoles or Shuffling Sands, you can earn points by emoting:

  • /dance with a member of the opposite faction under the Shuffling Sands effect for 100 points.
  • /huzzah at a member of the opposite faction under the effects of the Insulated Dancing Insoles for 100 points.

Two more toys can earn you points for the Trading Post in July:

  • Use the D.I.S.C.O. toy in Valdrakken and your faction capital for 50 points. This toy was earned from Twitch Drops earlier this year so you may not have it.
  • Use the Dragon Tea Set Toy in Valdrakken, Iskaara, Morqut Village, and the Obsidian Throne for 50 points. The Dragon Tea Set Toy is a reward from the To Cook With Finery quest gained at Renown 3 with Valdrakken Accord. Note that for the Obsidian Throne you don’t need have it unlocked yet, you can fly there and use the toy — just make sure you’re at the Throne, not just in the Citadel. For Iskaara, you have to be in the village proper and not in the inn as I learned the hard way!

Finally, if you know an Engineer with extra Fireflights in their bag — or are willing to buy them off the AH — you can set them off in various locations to earn points as well. You’ll need 40 total to earn all the points.

  • Launch 10 Fireflights in Valdrakken and your faction capital for 50 points.
  • Launch 10 Fireflights in Dungeons for 50 points. Note that like the Dungeon Bosses activity you need to be in a dungeon that is appropriate for your level. However, since it just involves setting off the Firelight, you can simply walk into Algeth’ar Academy or any other convenient dungeon and light them off at the entrance for credit.
  • Launch 10 Fireflights in Raids for 50 points. This also won’t work on a raid that’s too far below your level; since a raid group is required to access Vault of the Incarnates you may want to skip this one if you’re not yet 70.

Fireworks light up the Azeroth night sky this July

June had plenty of Midsummer Festival tasks that could be completed for points, and as the event lasts through July 4 there’s one more you can take advantage of earn points, although it’s not fair the faint of heart:

  • Steal Orgrimmar’s or Stormwind’s Flame for 150 points. This one can be a challenge if you’re not used to sneaking into the other faction’s capital, and you’ll probably be killed by the nearby guards. But if you fly directly down to it and quickly click you should be able to steal the flame. Return it to the Festival Talespinner near your own flame to earn the points. Stormwind’s flame is located right by the Stockades dungeon, while Orgrimmar’s flame is in the Valley of Wisdom next to Deathwing’s metal chin.

The Fireworks spectacular takes place on July 4 is another way to earn points. Simply /dance with a Reveler in Stormwind, Orgrimmar, and Booty Bay to earn 100 points. Remember that progress is accountwide, so you can have different characters perform each dance.

Luminous Luminaries is an odd little microholiday on July 13 this year and spending enough time in the Abyssal Depths can net you 400 points if you have the patience. Earning enough currency to Purchase a Damaged Diving Helmet rewards 150 pointsPurchase a Submersible Propulsion Device to get 130 points, and Purchase Jelly Jam for 120 points. Watch out for the Whale Shark tho!

The every-popular Auction House Dance Party returns on July 22 and there are two activities you can complete in order to earn points:

  • Some traders outside the Auction House are upset about the dance party! /disagree with an Angry Trader for 100 points.
  • Keep dancing, occasionally you’ll be brought up to the stage and get the Happy Feet buff which earns 100 points.

With extra points and Trading Tenders available in July it’s the perfect time to visit Azeroth and earn the new Dragonriding mount.
