What are you playing in Diablo 4’s Season of the Malignant?

These days, Diablo games are Seasonal. Most players roll a brand-new character at the start of a new Season, and tackle whatever new content it brings. That has been true for a while with Diablo 3, and the formula has also been adopted by Diablo 2: Resurrected.

In the case of Diablo 4, we’re about to get our first Season, the Season of the Malignant, which starts July 20 and brings a lot of new stuff to the game — from Malignant Hearts, a powerful new type of item that gives players a lot more power to customize their builds, to actual new story content. It’s definitely a time ripe for a new start, and some new experiences.

Lots of players use such an opportunity to change things up, and try a new class. I admit that I’m completely torn on what to do. I’ve become enamored with the Sorcerer class, and I’ve been writing a lot of content related to it. I feel super invested in Sorcerers, and I don’t plan on abandoning them; quite the opposite, in fact: I’m eagerly looking forward to seeing how they change for Season 1, and trying different builds with the class as well. It feels like there’s still a lot to explore.

But at the same time, the game has four other classes, and I want to try them too. Sorcerers might be my favorites, but I really want to try Rogues as well, and Barbarians are right behind them. It’s how I did it in Diablo 3, after all: Wizard was my number one class in that game, but I made sure to try each and every class, changing it up with every new Season. That was a very fun way to play the game.

How about you? What are you playing in Diablo 4’s Season 1? Are you sticking with the same class you’ve been playing so far, or are you using the advent of fresh content as a chance to try something new? How much do you like to change things up in Diablo games?
