What World of Warcraft event do you wish you had participated in when it first went live?
After not being able to play much when Dragonflight patch 10.1 came out, I’m finally making an effort to work with the Loamm Niffen in Zaralek Cavern and I’m having a lot of fun. The Researchers Under Fire is the right mix of chaotic and rewarding, and Sniffenseeking is a blast. It makes me regret not being around much when it first went live, as I suspect a lot of the events and rares were easier with a crowd. It also made me start thinking about other times I wish I had been present at the beginning in-game.
At the top of my list is the Argent Tournament. While I was playing during Wrath of the Lich King, I had yet to get my first toon to 80, and by the time I did, everyone was more worried about Icecrown Citadel than the Tourney. While I don’t think having more players around would’ve made the duels compelling (and of course quests would’ve been harder as this was before shared objectives), it would’ve been nice to feel like I was actually part of the scene when it was current. I thought about participating in Wrath Classic but ultimately decided it wouldn’t be the same — I tend not to get the same nostalgia kick that others do.
Another event I would’ve liked to have been around for was the Corrupted Blood plague. While obviously not as exciting as serverwide events such as the Gates of Ahn’Qiraj, it still would’ve been interesting to experience. I doubt I would’ve had more luck than others to survive the spread of the plague but I’d want to give it a try. Fortunately (or unfortunately depending on your point of view) Wrath Classic was not going to be able to replicate the Corrupted Blood, so there was no temptation there.
Which events did you miss that you wish you could back to? Would you want to be around for the ringing of the Scarab Gong — server stability permitting? Did you miss the unlocking of the Molten Front or Thunder Isle? And have you tried logging into WoW Classic to recreate any missed experiences?
