When is World of Warcraft: The War Within release date?

The newest expansion for World of Warcraft has been announced and it is titled The War Within. Set deep inside of Azeroth, The War Within will have our heroes facing off against our old enemies the Nerubians led by Xal’atath while becoming allies with the Earthen who will join our cause as an Allied Race. While we do not have a firm release date yet, our prediction is that The War Within will release around the week of September 17, 2024 with early access for those who prepurchase the Epic Edition on September 13, 2024.

So far all we know about the release date of The War Within is that it’s slated for late Summer or early Fall of 2024, if its placement on the 2024 roadmap is accurate. With the increased pace of released patches, and the fact that the Amirdrassil is the last raid of Dragonflight, we shouldn’t expect there to be a full year between its release and the release of The War Within. There will be a “fated” Season 4 as expected that will help with the lull, but even with it I expect that every attempt will be made to ensure a release earlier in the Fall rather than later. Targeting a mid-September launch would prevent the lull from going too long while also providing plenty of time for additional development and beta testing. It would also ensure that the expansion has been live for a significant amount of time before BlizzCon 2024, where we may get additional details on the next expansion in the three expansion narrative arc, announced as The Worldsoul Saga.

How can you buy The War Within? There are three prepurchase options

As with Dragonflight there are three editions that can be pre-purchased for The War Within. All three versions come with Dragonflight (if you don’t already own it), a level 70 enhanced character boost and Trader’s Tender. The Heroic edition adds the Algarian Stormrider mount (which can be used for Dragonriding) and the Stormrider’s Attire transmog set. The Epic Edition also adds guaranteed beta access, a storm hatchling pet, a storm gryphon toy, a new Hearthstone effect, an extra 30 days of game time and most importantly of all three days of Early Access before The War Within officially releases.

Pricing for The War Within is consistent with Dragonflight with the base edition being $50, the heroic edition $70, and the epic edition $90.
