Hearthstone Battlegrounds Season 6 starts on December 5, bringing Tavern Spells to the game
Hearthstone Battlegrounds Season 6, the Spellslinger’s Saloon, is starting December 5, and bringing playable Tavern Spells into the game mode. As the name implies, these spells will show up in the Tavern to be purchased, alongside minions. They’ll have varying gold costs, as well as different Tiers where they’ll be offered to you. There will be a total of 42 spells, and the Tavern will always include one with each refresh — in addition to the normal number of minions it would already offer.
This Season will also shake up the minion roster. A total of 32 brand-new minions will be added, and some of them have specific synergies with the Tavern Spells — they might increase the number of Spells that are offered in the Tavern, or allow you to Discover a Spell, among other things. This shake up will also include new ways to play with existing minion types: the Undead, for instance, will now get a new type of effect where you can destroy an existing Undead on your board, during the Recruit phase, in order to reap a powerful benefit.
With the new Season, we’ll get a new Battlegrounds Track, filled with cosmetics following the new Spellslinger’s Saloon theme. The season should also bring a new Season Pass — which, assuming the pricing doesn’t change, should be purchasable for either 1500 Runestones if you buy it in-game, or $15 if you get it through the Battle.net shop. Getting the Season Pass is not required to play the season, but it does unlock many extra cosmetics, as well as the ability to choose from four heroes instead of two — which is a distinct gameplay advantage.
On December 4, one day before the patch goes live, a special stream event will take place on Twitch, where many famous players and content creators will showcase the new content. These streams will happen throughout the day, and the streamers will feature Season Pass giveaways. You can check out the official schedule, including times and participating streamers, on the official blog.
New seasons usually launch on PC around 12:00 PM (PT) — but be wary that it might be a few minutes late, and that you may need to restart your client after that time in order for the game to update itself. Mobile versions of the game typically go live a couple of hours later.
With that in mind, get ready for Season 6: the release date is December 5, so be prepared to fling some spells!
