What are your gaming resolutions for 2024?

End of year is always a time for change. Down here in the Southern Hemisphere we’re are about to have our summer solstice, from here the year begins to wane rather than wax. For us Christmas and New Years are the middle of the summer holidays and warm days in the sun and family vacations and often company annual summer shutdowns. It’s always a bit surreal for all our media to be filled with images of dark cold landscapes, of people rugged up, and of sleet and snow. Regardless, it’s a great opportunity to kick back and relax, pants are optional, no pressure to be at work, time to try out the new games you have been saving up all year.

My guild is going into the end of year break with Amirdrassil at 4 of 9 down on heroic and well on target to get AOTC comfortably before the end of the season. I am still working on finishing off the Season Journey in Diablo 4, and am currently finishing grinding to Level 100 with the Midwinter Blight event, I have just unlocked getting event currency in nightmare dungeons which will help.

I have a backlog of articles to write for Blizzard Watch (Sorry Liz!), but I’m looking forward to some low pressure gaming. I’m going to explore some of PTR, I have a bunch of indie games sitting on my Steam account to get to. I need to progress my CyberPunk 2077 game and I have a couple of two players co-op puzzle games to stream with my partner.

Heading into 2024, I need to get a bit more strategic with my game time, I think I am going to have to start going back into the office more frequently, so jumping on at lunchtime is going to be a much less common occurrence (cries in farming druid forms). I may also need to plan out my other responsibilities so I have time for The War Within launch and to spend time in beta and research and write up guides — this will be my first new WoW expansion as a Blizzard Watch writer.

Looking back on 2023, did you game as much as you’d like or did you spend more time hiding in games and need to step back a bit? Did you achieve your gaming goals? Do you have a gaming plan for 2024, what are you looking forward to or what gaming bad habits do you need to break?
