What season theme would you like to see next in Diablo 4?

Diablo 4 Seasons have been about a new plague of malignant demons, vampires, and soon magical robots made by Zoltun Kulle. I admit, I didn’t see the magical robots coming. But it does have me wondering what we’ll get next in terms of season themes in D4, especially now that Diablo 3 is done with original season themes of its own.

Diablo 4 seasons have a more narrative based element to them, with questlines that involve the player more directly and introduce the threat that we’ll be confronting. With that as the case, one thing I’d really like to see is a season based around Tristram and the Tristram Cathedral. We could explore the ruined structure, fight the various abominations created by the Skeleton King and Archbishop Lazarus — we  know the guy was experimenting on evil spider monsters when he wasn’t conspiring to have the Queen beheaded for treason so that he could implant a Demon Lord in the King’s youngest son, he had a lot of interests. And since Lazarus was a servant of Mephisto, who’s going to be a big deal in the first Diablo 4 expansion, I think a season themed about learning more about how Lazarus served his master could be pretty cool.

Honestly, what I really want to see is D4 taking the opportunity with season themes to really expand Sanctuary and the stories told in it. We have these quests each season, but we can’t really see much in terms of ongoing story that’s relevant to the game. I get that might feel like more of an expansion thing, but I think exploring parts of the world through seasons would be a good use of the way the themes add in new lore and ideas for the game. Maybe that’s just me, though.

So what do you think? Do you have any ideas for season themes in Diablo 4, and if so, what are they?
