Skill Tree respec changes are among a ton of Diablo 4 Season 3 quality of life improvements

If you’ve been playing or have played Diablo 4, you’re probably aware of the difficulties that can manifest while trying to change your skills and Paragon tiles to use a different approach. It’s been a complaint since the initial launch of Diablo 4, and it’s one the developers have decided needed attention. In D4 Season 3, among other quality of life improvements, a new Skill Tree Respec system is being added to the game.

The way this system appears to work, there’s a new overview UI that allows you to pick out the various skill nodes you’ll want in your skill tree, what Paragon tiles you’ll have, and so on all at once, rather than one at a time. Furthermore, unlike the current system, you won’t have to spend gold on the spec until you finalize it. It’s essentially a free preview of the spec that tells you how many skill points you’ll need to get the skills you want, or how many Paragon points you’ll need to get the tiles you want, while also keeping track of the cost.

Better yet, because you don’t have to pay the costs of the Skill Tree respec until you actually finalize it by using the options on the bottom of the interface — there’s Refund All, Confirm, and Exit Respec Mode options to choose from — if you decide a spec isn’t to your taste, you can simply exit and not have to go back and rebuild your old spec from scratch. You only lose your current spec if you click Refund All or Confirm — exiting means that nothing changes.

Now, this doesn’t mean that Diablo 4 doesn’t still have a really large array of skills and Paragon tiles to choose from. You’re still going to have to sit down and spend some time on a respec and it’s still going to cost you some gold. But at least now you can do all the work of it in the game without having to pay all the costs piecemeal for each skill or Paragon point you spend — you can work it all out before applying it. This will give you more opportunities to catch any mistakes and save you the gold you would have had to spend fixing them. It’s a pretty substantial improvement to how Skill Trees are filled out and I’m very excited for it.

So get ready, because next week, you’ll get to play around with new Skill Tree builds with much less hassle than on current servers. Diablo 4 Season 3 is yet another reason to love Zoltan Kulle.
