What are your thoughts on the Dragonflight Season 4 Awakened Raids?

Dragonflight Season 4 is in full swing and while we’re still in the first week there’s an extra sense of urgency with patch 10.2.7 and WoW Remix: Mists of Pandaria arriving in the next few weeks. So what are your thoughts on the experience so far?

First things first: if you have no idea what to do with your Antique Bronze Bullion check out this article as it explains everything you need to know. Frankly I feel like the lack of any in-game communication regarding where to use it is the biggest issue with the Season so far, the tooltip isn’t very helpful when most people aren’t very familiar with Valdrakken locations on the outskirts of the city. Since equipment requires two Bullion to purchase it’s also tough to gear up this first week, which may cause players to eschew power next week for transmog this week.

The week delay before you can spend the Bullion to get gear isn’t the only issue with gearing in Season 4. Because the class tier sets were voted on from the first three Seasons, some classes are stuck because Season 4 is the same bonus as Season 3 and there’s no doubling the 2-piece bonus. As a result, those unfortunate classes need to wait until they can get four tier pieces before they can switch out (unless the ilvl upgrade simulates to being better despite dropping to 2-piece); not every class has this issue though, only those whose Season 4 bonus matches their Season 3 bonus but it’s an annoyance. If a similar scenario is planned for the final Season of The War Within hopefully they’ll devise a way to prevent this.

Of course, I’d be remiss if I didn’t mention the biggest issue with Season 4 so far: the Raszageth fight. It’s the one thing that makes me glad they didn’t add any affixes to the Awakened raids this time, as I can’t imagine the LFR version of that fight being any tougher. Increasing the ilevel requirement to queue has helped some, but the fight has so many moving parts — and so many players either haven’t done it or have forgotten it since the last time they ran it — that two or three stacks of determination should be expected. Not that I think the Awakened fights should be pushovers, but the difficulty spike of Rasz has made it a very frustrating experience.

What do you think? Are you enjoying the chance to head back to Vault of the Incarnates (and soon Aberrus) after not running them for a bit? Do you miss the affixes that the Fated Raids had in Shadowlands, or are you glad they’re gone? And do you plan to keep running the Awakened raids after ReMists launches?
