Which Dragonflight story moment surprised you the most?
With the major events of our adventures throughout the Dragon Isles wrapped up, it’s time for some reflection (and a last glimpse of daylight) before we begin our spelunking careers next month. Some of the developments were fairly predictable — once I got a look inside the Vault of the Incarnates, I was almost positive that Raszageth’s siblings wouldn’t remain imprisoned for long. Yet some of the story arcs took some twists and turns that may have caught even the most trope-aware players off-guard.
For me, everything that happened in the Tyr’s Return questline was the opposite of what I expected. I was prepared at every step to run into some obstacle that would prevent the keeper from reviving. Or perhaps we would finish gathering Tyr’s memories only to resurrect a sort of echo that would tell us how proud he was before dissipating into silver mist. I was sure that the real treasure would be the friends we made along the way in the form of the rebuilt Tyr’s Guard.
Nope. After a quick jaunt through the timeways, we recover the last component — a disc of memories — and Tyr boots right up like an old but reliable laptop. He’s a bit behind on current events, and historical events, and very historical events (he died further back in time than a conflict that we now call the War of the Ancients). But it’s really and truly the keeper himself. He spends the rest of the expansion puttering around Tyrhold and asking awkward questions about the trolls in the Tyr’s Guard. She’s my friend, metal grandpa!
So which part of the story was most surprising to you? Did you correctly predict who would end up leading the Black Dragonflight? Were you shocked that Iridikron lived to fight another expansion? Let us know in the comments what moment made you spit our your Artisanal Berry Juice.
