How to unlock the Earthen Allied Race in The War Within — final unlock quests available today!
The first allies we encounter in The War Within are the Earthen, and thus it only seems natural that they are also the first Allied Race we can recruit as well. Available for both Alliance and Horde (like the Pandaren and Dracthyr), an Earthen character can choose to be a member of most classes — the exceptions are Death Knight, Demon Hunter, Druid, and Evoker. Like previous Allied Races, unlocking the Earthen will require players to complete Campaign and side quests.

Unlocking Earthen is relatively simple, and the final quests to unlock the race are available now. Here’s what you need to do to create your own Earthen character.
There are currently four criteria to unlocking the Earthen Allied Race:
- The War Within campaign storyline. This is the main story at max level in patch 11.0, and will require the player to be level 80 and wait for it to fully unlock the week of September 3 in order to complete.
- Remember Me, Earthen focuses on how Earthen handle the departure of their kind. This quest chain can be done right after you unlock Dornogal and is started in Fallside Outpost just east of the city; the first quest is Before I Depart and the final one in the chain is The Weight of Duty.
- There is a short side quest storyline in the second zone Ringing Deeps that will need to be completed, Broken Tools. The first quest is Discarded and Broken, and can be started at level 73 when you arrive in Gundargaz after completing Cogs in the Machine.
- Finally there is the Behind Closed Doors questline that is broken into three separate sections:
- After unlocking Dornogal you can start it via How Scandalous; the last quest in this part is Report to the Councilward.
- When you reach Gundargaz at level 73 in the Ringing Deeps there will be an NPC named Saradi waiting for you with the second part starting with The Councilward’s Summons sending you back to Dornogal. This section ends with The Machine Speakeasy.
- The final part unlocks when you’ve completed the campaign quest in Ringing Deeps. You’ll need to return to the Inn in Dornogal where you’ll find a poster outside starting the quest Sedition. The final quest is Bad Business.
Unlocking of the Allied Earthen for both factions will occur once these required storylines and quests have been completed; there is currently no post-achievement follow up quest. Once the Achievement flashes on your screen you’ll be able to roll a new Earthen or faction/race change any or all of your existing characters to the newest Allied Race.
