The War Within patch 11.0.7 takes us to Siren Isle (which reminds us an awful lot of the Forbidden Reach)
WoW patch 11.0.7 is landing on the PTR on October 31, meaning we’ll probably know a lot more tomorrow: but for now we have our first peek at the next patch, in which we’ll explore the mysterious Siren Isle. The new zone strikes me as a mash-up of Island Expeditions (it’s an island with regular invasions of Vrykul, Naga, and pirates to fight off) and the Forbidden Reach (with secrets to find, caves to explore, and even a new ring to unlock and bedazzle with gems). The Kul Tirans used to mine Azerite here during the Fourth War, but the island has been abandoned, and now a huge golden crystal in the center of the isle seems to sing.
Looking at this thing, I can practically hear Magni shouting at me about healing Azeroth’s wounds. (What is happening with that sword, anyway?) So it’s no surprise that everyone’s interested in this crystal, and you’ll be working with the Earthen, Arathi, and Goblins to explore, excavate, and uncover the island’s secrets. Everyone is here for their own reasons, and as usual, you’re stuck in the middle, collecting quest rewards.
But there’s more to patch 11.0.7 than a new island. Here are the features of the next patch that we know about so far:
- New zone: Siren Isle, which looks to be hopping with events. Expect to spend time tracking down secrets, hunting rares, fighting off invasions (with a little help from your Goblin friends), and more.
- New The War Within story quests, with an epilogue to 11.0 content that goes into the fate (and future) of the Kirin Tor as well as a prologue for patch 11.1 in which we’ll “uncover a familiar face in the darkness.” Time to make a list of the characters we haven’t seen in a while and ponder which are most likely to reappear.
- New Ring: Cyrce’s Circlet, which seems a great deal like the Onyx Annulet from the Forbidden Reach. The Circlet will have three different types of sockets, and we’ll collect gems on the island to fill these specialized sockets. (It’s been a whole expansion since we’ve had to do that!) The ring seems to play part of the story, and may be required to interact with certain things on the Siren Isle.
- New collectibles, including Thrayir, Eyes of the Siren, a storm crow mount which has been skulking away in game files since Siege of Orgrimmar. Expect more mounts and appearances to collect throughout the zone.
- New currency: Flame Blessed Iron. It’s something new so I felt I had to mention it even though no one is ever happy to have a new currency to collect. We don’t yet know how you’ll earn this currency or how much of it you’ll need to collect the latest loot.
- New customizations: Kul Tirans and Humans will get an Arathi-style pointed ear customization option.
- Plunderstorm returns in early 2025 with new and returning transmog looks to collect.
- Turbulent Timeways return with non-stop Timewalking events which offer Heroic-level weekly rewards, plus a Timely Buzzbee Skyriding mount. I have no idea what this mount looks like, but I already know I want it.
That’s all we know about patch 11.0.7 right now, but we’re certain to learn more after the PTR goes live; and I’ll be sure to update this post with more details and links as we learn more.
But now that we know a little about the next patch, the obvious question is what’s next after this? Well, during the preview video there’s art that may be of Kezan on someone’s monitor, continuing to fuel theorycrafting that we may be headed towards a Goblin-themed patch in the future. It’s (probably) not in 11.0.7, but it could be just around the corner.
