Hearthstone’s 2025 Roadmap reveals the Year of the Raptor, with the next three expansions and their minisets
In a change from how things have been done in recent years, the Hearthstone team has decided to unveil all three upcoming expansions in their next calendar, the Year of the Raptor. That’s right: rather than teasing us with silhouettes and keeping things under wrap, Hearthstone Game Director Tyler Bielman showcased the full roadmap for 2025, including three expansions on major patches 32.0, 33.0, and 34.0, plus the minisets that accompany them.
The first expansion will be called Into the Emerald Dream, said to be “one of their most requested settings.” The Druids of the Emerald Dream will face off against the forces of the Old Gods for the fate of the World Tree. This expansion will be followed by the Druids of the Flame miniset — which should definitely light things up, for better or for worse.
Following the Emerald Dream, the second expansion of the year will work as a sequel to Journey to Un’goro: The Shrouded City will make as retread familiar ground, as Elise Starseeker searches for a lost Tortollan city. Once the secrets of that lost city are uncovered, the following miniset, Festival of the Devilsaur, will feature a festival in honor of the mighty dinosaurs of the Crater, hosted by the Tortollan.
The third expansion, The Heroes of Time, closes out the year with Chromie traveling across timelines (and alternate realities) to recruit heroes. And what for? To fight Murozond in the miniset that accompanies this expansion, called The End of Time.
Battlegrounds and Arena are also present in the roadmap
The roadmap also showcases Seasons 10, 11, and 12 for Battlegrounds on the X.2 patches, just as we’re used to. This confirms that the general schedule for the Year of the Raptor will be very similar to what we’ve gotten accustomed to, and Constructed and Battlegrounds are still the main pillars of Hearthstone, despite its plethora of other modes.
And speaking of those modes, Bielman also mentions the upcoming revamp to Arena mode, which comes next year as well — though details are scarce at the moment, other than that there will be two different kinds of Arena to choose from: a “normal” mode with a shorter amount of games, and the new Underground Arena mode, which features longer runs and the ability to redraft your deck upon a loss. Arena will also feature a new matchmaking system, with separate Ratings for each mode.
Are you excited about the Year of the Raptor? It’s certainly interesting to get all the expansion information in advance like this, and have a brief idea of what to expect in the coming months.
