Diablo 3 Season 33 ends this weekend (really this time), so you just have a few more days to chase around your shadow clones

Diablo 3 Season 33, Shades of the Nephalem, kicked off October 25 to the delight of all players who love flexibility in their Kanai’s Cube. Sadly, few seasonal themes last forever, so we ask the age-old question — when do we have to say goodbye to the Shades of the Nephalem? When does Season 33 end? We now know Diablo 3 Season 33 will end on January 19, 2025.

Season 33 is currently still going strong, despite Blizzard accidentally ending the season early. Season 33 is now back online (though many players are reporting paragon and other end-game progress has been reset), and we have a clear, non-accidental end date from the Season 34 preview blog.

The Diablo 3 maintenance mode seasonal cycle was initially consistent with Seasons 30 and 31, which ran for 12 weeks and 2 days. Season 32 rocked the consistency boat by adding two weeks to its runtime compared to its two preceding seasons. However, there are a few potential reasons for this shift — first, ending the season two weeks earlier, on October 6, would have landed it right before the release of Diablo 4‘s first expansion, Vessel of Hatred. Additionally, Season 33 had an accompanying patch containing a more stable game client, which, surprisingly, involved a PTR period. Now, it’s been 10 months since the last D3 PTR, but that extra week (and the time required to integrate any feedback) can certainly make a difference.

We didn’t anticipate any PTRs during Season 33, which proved to be the case. The game’s class balance and playstyle have remained consistent since maintenance mode kicked off shortly after Diablo 4’s release. That said, the normal 12-week date of January 19 puts us perilously close to the end of D4 Season 6 on January 21, so we expected another two-week grace period to avoid a too-tight overlap with D4’s Season of Witchcraft. But now, Diablo 3 Season 33 and Diablo 4 Season 7 will launch right on top of each other.

So enjoy your extra wildcard cube slot and shrine-triggered shadow clones, players! Season 33 is ending on January 19, and Season 34 will follow on January 24.
