When is player housing coming to World of Warcraft? We’re planning to lay out our welcome mats in winter 2025

Everyone in the World of Warcraft community has been dying to know when player housing is coming to the game since Ion first slipped in a teaser trailer during the end of his segment at the Warcraft 30th Anniversary Direct. Then, the 2025 WoW roadmap taunted us with a hint of housing’s release with an icon right in winter 2025; the recent first look at player housing has merely fueled mass curiosity. While Blizzard has not released an official date for player housing, we can make a reasonable estimate from the roadmap and WoW’s regular patch cadence. So if you, too, are ready for your little corner of Azeroth to call home, we expect player housing to hit as early as mid-December 2025 following patch 11.2.7.

Curious how we got to this estimate? As always, the answer involves both math and a lot of hopium.

Many remarked on a stylized little icon on the roadmap when it was first released that looked like a polygon with an at-sign cut into it; Blizzard quickly turned around an updated roadmap with a more straightforward, house-shaped image on a marker. Both versions included absolutely zero text, but that’s fine — we’ve seen this before with the Plunderstorm teaser on the 2024 roadmap. Unlike Plunderstorm, we don’t have a precise patch number to point to for player housing, but there are some context clues.

You see, the roadmap contains event benchmarks that we combine with time ranges from the more consistent patch schedule to achieve estimates:

• Patch 11.1 is coming Tuesday, February 25, six months after The War Within launched.
• Patch 11.2 is estimated to drop between July 22 and August 5, bringing the third TWW raid that will ultimately help launch us into the next expansion, Midnight.
• Patch 11.2.5 is where our estimates start to get a little broader. Our initial estimate is for the patch to drop late September, but because the patch includes the 21st Anniversary event, the patch has to run through the beginning of November.

Patch 11.2.7 is the last release to fall 1) before the mysterious house icon, and 2) before Midnight launches. The roadmap does not specify when to anticipate Midnight, nor does it include the expansion’s alpha and beta periods like the 2024 roadmap included. However, knowing that housing is “flagged” after the 11.2.7 release date, but still ahead of Midnight narrows our options significantly. Housing could arrive in mid-December at the beginning of winter, just four weeks after our estimate of November 18 for patch 11.2.7. Alternatively, it could be a harbinger (hah, get it?) of the next expansion, acting as a placeholder for the 12.0.1 pre-patch, which would fall on January 20 — five weeks before our estimated Midnight release of February 24, 2026.

Ultimately, we’re playing a medium-scale guessing game here. Projections based on a quarterly roadmap get more difficult the further out you are guessing. But if our calculations are correct, player housing should arrive in World of Warcraft between December 16, 2025, and January 20, 2026. Stay tuned!
