Manaforge Omega Race to World First day 6: One more boss down, and competition is fierce
It’s an exciting day 6 of the Manaforge Omega Race to World First as Forgeweaver Araz goes down! Liquid picked up World First Araz after 93 pulls, and only minutes later Echo killed the same boss after 73 pulls. Here’s Liquid’s kill and Echo’s kill.
That pull count will tell you that this wasn’t an easy boss. Araz is all about add management, and required speedy target shifting and plenty of CC. The Arcane Echo adds were beefy, and if they get within 20 yards of Araz they increase his damage done by 75% and reduce his damage taken by 90%. Ouch. While working on the fight, Liquid attempted three tanking it in order to manage the adds, and off-tank them through the fight rather than killing them. They were just that much of a threat, and they had to be managed in between a barrage of orbs and beams to doge.
Blizzard decided the boss was a bit harder than intended and came in with nerfs on Forgeweaver Araz on Saturday, reducing Arcane Echo health by 40% and reducing Araz’s health by 5%. The boss didn’t go down immediately after this nerf but this change made the Arcane Echoes killable, which made the fight much more manageable.
In phase 2 (at 15% health or after two intermissions), Araz summons a Dark Singularity — essentially a black hole pulling players in. Araz also summons Void Manifestation adds that head towards the Singularity, and if any of them reach it, it’s a wipe. This is where CC becomes essential, with players putting down a coordinated pattern of slows, stuns, and CCs to keep these adds under control before they reach the edge of the platform — all while burning the boss.
After taking out this boss, both Liquid and Echo went on to Soul Hunters, a chaotic council fight that’s technically optional, but drops such good loot — including shoulder tier pieces and boots for every armor type that buff your Reshii Wraps — that guilds won’t want to skip them. But after a few pulls, both retreated to Mythic+ while planning out strategy for the fight. While everyone will want to kill this boss, it’s also possible that guilds will decide it’s too difficult and move to Fractillus instead — Liquid has already swapped to a five healer comp to manage the damage on this fight.
It’s late for European guilds, however, and both Echo and Method have called it a day. Echo will start their next day fresh on Soul Hunters (or maybe Fractillus), while Method is still working on Araz. The team got a sub 1% pull and was regularly getting the boss into the single digits, but at some point fatigue makes it hard to focus and they were seeing more early wipes. I’m sure they’ll get that kill in the morning.
Chinese guild Huoguo Hero, world fourth in Liberation of Undermine, has also started progressing in Manaforge Omega. The team sped through the first three bosses to join Liquid, Echo, and Method on Forgeweaver Araz.
Here are the current standings:
- Liquid (4/8), with Soul Hunters at 42% after 11 pulls
- Echo (4/8), calling it a night after one exploratory pull on both Soul Hunters and Fractillus
- Method (3/8), with Forgeweaver Araz at 0.9%
- Huoguo Hero (3/8), with Forgeweaver Araz at 43%
- Instant Dollars (3/8), with Forgeweaver Araz at 54%
Right now the leaderboards look very much like last tier: Liquid is currently in the lead, closely followed by Echo, with Method and Huoguo Hero following. Instant Dollars is also making a strong showing this tier, making good progress on Araz.
That’s the state of things right now, but it could change minute to minute. There are 27 guilds at 3/8 pushing for world third on Forgeweaver Araz, which means there’s a lot of competition. Stay tuned for more kills soon.
I’ll keep you up to date with another update tomorrow afternoon, but if you want more frequent updates, I recommend watching Raider.io for up-to-the-minute coverage of the race!
