The Queue: Back in Control
Oops, I accidentally started playing Control again.
I just love this game full of Weirdness™. Like I said the first time I played Control, it feels like the game was made for me. All of the Weird™ stuff in it is my favorite flavor of Weird™ — mundane objects and places getting that supernatural flair. I’m not so far in yet, but I’ve gotten my telekinesis and started whipping fire extinguishers at my enemies with great glee. Such a simple yet evocative power to build a game around.
While I delve further into the mysteries of the Astral Plane, it’s time for — The Queue!
So apparently Liquid got it?
They got it, but not it it. Y’know? Just the little it, not the big it. Unless you’re talking about their general performance in The War Within’s raid tiers, in which case they most definitely have it.
Anyways, at the time of this writing, Liquid just got the fifth boss down in Manaforge Omega, and it came pretty quickly after the fourth, so they had a good Sunday of raiding. Echo is hot on their heels, and Method is bringing some heat in the third-place spot. Will Echo have caught up by the time of this post going live? It’s a possibility! That’s part of what made covering the Race to World First so annoying for me. I would always try and wait until someone had finished their day, and by the time that happened, someone else had started their day — and now I figured I might as well give them a few attempts to see if they would get it. More than once, I had to go back and update a post before it had gone live because Echo squeaked out a victory thirty pulls faster than Liquid had.
Q4tQ: Have you ever won an impossible video game fight? One where you are intended to lose from a narrative standpoint, but through either skill or determination you actually win.
I can’t say that I have.
I tend towards the bull in a china shop style of play, and that doesn’t tend to last long against fights that are supposed to teach you about resurrection mechanics. I don’t want to say how many times I died against the first boss in Control just recently because I refused to take cover on the edge of the room. It was more than a few, and then when I played it smart, all of a sudden I won. Weird.
This is why I find myself playing Tanks and Bruiser characters more often in games. If I can have extra health and survivability at the cost of some damage, I’ll usually find myself going further. Who wants to spend their whole life cowering behind walls — I’ll become the wall!
I completely messed up my dinner, to the point where I threw half of it out because it wasn’t exactly edible.
Buuut… I also got ice cream, so the day isn’t a total loss.
Ice cream is good!
I’m sorry you messed up your dinner. It does remind me of the time that I tried to do a salt rub on a big hunk of salmon, and then didn’t rinse it off properly before cooking it. That was nearly indedibly salty. Or the time I tried to make a tequila guacamole, and didn’t look at any kind of recipe or guide on how to do that. So I put way too much tequila in, and it just made for a runny, gross mess. I’m usually game to finish things I’ve made, but that guacamole was inedible.
Did you hear about the possible leak of paladins in Diablo IV ?
No, but also it’s the only class that would make sense after the way Vessel of Hatred ended. You’re telling me that we’ve gone to the spiritual center of the Zakarum, and Mephisto has taken the body of ol whatshisface to puppet as he wreaks havoc across Sanctuary — and we wouldn’t get a Paladin/Crusader class? That would be silly!
I also think it’s weird we haven’t seen Angelic enemies yet. I thought for sure that we would’ve had a few popping up. Since there was a piece of armor, they added that had %damage to Angels and Demons. It would’ve made sense to put them in the Infernal Hordes as an enemy type, then you don’t have to do too much handwaving on the outside for why we’re fighting them. Just a moment of “those guys said you look like jerks” and let our characters go on the murder spree that comes after that kind of comment.

Here’s a nice fuzzy Canadian prawn for some extra loot luck in your vaults this week. There are so many more shiny things to get now! Maybe you’ll get the big shiny mace that lets you loot everyone around you. That would be so cool.
Would you rather
Have the power of telekinesis
Or
Have the power of flight
Today’s Anna Earworm™: Dark Horse
I hope you all have a great week! Next time we see each other, the Midnight trailer will have been released, and won’t that be cool! In the meantime, you can also be cool by leaving lots of questions for your other Queue writers!
