Everything we know so far about the new delves in World of Warcraft Midnight

There will be 11 new Delves in World of Warcraft Midnight to explore across the expansions first four zones. Like in The War Within, some of the new Delves will be included in the Midnight campaign quests as a way to introduce potential new mechanics to the Delves system including Midnight’s Delve companion, Valeera Sanguinar. The most substantial information that  we do know about new Delves is split between the Midnight announcement and the Midnight zones preview but is still overall really sparse.

All of the new Delves in Midnight

We know the names of all 11 Delves, including the Nemesis Delve, Torment’s Rise, that will undoubtedly feature the Midnight season 1 secondary antagonist (whom we don’t know yet):

  • The Shadow Enclave
  • Collegiate Calamity
  • Parhelion Plaza
  • The Darkway
  • Twilight Crypts
  • Atal’Aman
  • The Grudge Pit
  • The Gulf of Memory
  • Sunkiller Sanctum
  • Shadowguard Point
  • Torment’s Rise

It’s unclear where all of the Delves will be located as only eight have been tied to the three of the four zones, with Zul’Aman notably missing. It seems unlikely that a revamped zone won’t have any Delves, and we’ll just have to wait for more clarification. Furthermore, which of these eight Delves will appear in these zones in remains unclear and while we can draw inferences based on the name of each Delve, we’ll have to wait and see where exactly each one is located:

We don’t know what substantial changes, if any, will happen to Delves in Midnight like if the modifiers, Overcharged and Bountiful, will return or be tweaked into something else entirely for expansion. Blizzard doesn’t seem poised to drastically overhaul the Delves system, at least at the current moment, so there likely won’t be a huge change in how Delves will primarily function in Midnight.

This will change as we learn more about Midnight and its forthcoming systems but for right now, it’s reasonable to assume that Delves be similar to how they are in The War Within: go in, complete a set of objectives, defeat enemies/bosses, and get loot. Each Delve in The War Within had different scenarios that would add some variation to the Delve encounters and we’ll also likely see that continue in Midnight.

Delve rewards in Midnight

We’re also left to speculate on what rewards we can earn from Delves in Midnight. We can naturally assume that gear and currencies will be part of the loot pool but The War Within set a precedent of a continuously customizable mount from Delves, so it’s hard not to get excited at the idea of different housing customizations as potential Delve rewards. For now, we just have to wait for Blizzard to tell us more, hopefully in the near future.

There is so much to learn about what’s coming to Delves and we’ll keep you updated as we learn more about the Midnight expansion!
