Manaforge Omega Race to World First: Liquid kills Dimensius in a dramatic race day!
What a race! Team Liquid earned the World First Dimensius kill in the Manaforge Omega Race to World First, giving the guild a clean sweep of World Firsts for the final bosses of all The War Within raids. The actual kill was very clean: after all, Liquid had 385 pulls of practice t0 get this fight down. Here’s the kill video!
But this kill was far from an inevitability. While Liquid had plenty of pulls to practice, the fight continued to have a lot of variability. Phase 1 remained difficult throughout (particularly without Bloodlust to power through it), and Echo was still having wipes in phase 1. Meanwhile, it was getting very late in Echo’s day but the team got two back-to-back sub 1% Dimensius pulls without securing a kill, but it with such great progress it seemed like they would get the boss down any pull. Liquid clearly seemed to be feeling the stress and had some early wipes as the two guilds were pulling the boss simultaneously.
But it was around 2am for Echo, and they had trouble getting back to those low percentages. Liquid took a brief break and came back focused and secured a kill almost immediately.
What a race! It’s always fun to watch a close race, that seems to seriously challenge all players — and doesn’t come down to when something is nerfed or when someone has a reset. The fight on Dimensius has been a wild ride as Liquid and Echo have continued to switch places on the leaderboards down to the last few pulls.
So what next? Even though it’s late, Echo has continued pulling Dimensius in an attempt to get a kill. Finishing the raid day with a kill would certainly feel better than calling it a night with the fight still hanging over your head. Getting second place in the race is still a heck of an achievement, but may not feel that way right now after these close wipes. Method, trailing behind both Liquid and Echo, called it a night comparatively early, planning to come back fresh and get the last 27% of Dimensius.
The rest of the pack is further behind. Here the current standings:
- Liquid (8/8), World First Dimensius after 385 pulls!
- Echo (7/8), with Dimensius at 0.31% (P3) after 363 pulls
- Method (7/8), with Dimensius at 27% (P3) after 260 pulls
- Huoguo Hero (7/8), with Dimensius at 45% (P2.2) after 151 pulls
- Jitianhong (6/8), with Salhadaar at 12.21% (P3) after 234 pulls
Congratulations to Team Liquid for a hard-fought win!
This is probably it from me here at Blizzard Watch, so I’m signing off from the Dimmydome. I’ll have to get back to fighting this guy with my own raid team soon enough.
