Which upcoming Midnight feature are you most looking forward to?
With the confusing firehose of Midnight information that was Gamescom 2025 dried up, it’s time to take a breath and reflect on which of the announced features of the next World of Warcraft expansion we are most excited about. Let’s keep an open mind and actually consider them all before we just say “player housing.”
I think the new zones are strong with this next chapter in Azeroth’s history. Revisiting areas that we’ve previously explored, when done right, can be a phenomenal experience, and I am very much looking forward to seeing a modern version of Eversong Woods. In a similar vein, seeing more of a location that we’ve previously just scratched the surface of has great potential, so Zul’Aman might be a sleeper favorite zone. I’m excited to see more of our underground root-protecting friends as we venture to their homeland, Harandar. Voidstorm is a bit similar-sounding to K’aresh, but I’m holding out hope that it will have a distinct feel.
The recently-anticipated third spec for Demon Hunter, the very void-y Devourer, might be a major selling point for many players. The idea of bouncing in and out of melee range on glowing purple wings definitely appeals to me, and any specialization that uses ‘Collapsing Star’ as a finisher is right up my alley. Demon Hunters are among my least-played classes in World of Warcraft, but I might just be rolling a Devourer in Midnight.
I’d be surprised if you told me that the new Allied Race, the Haranir, was the thing you were most looking forward to in the next expansion — but not terribly surprised. Maybe you just love pangolins. Ever since they played an outsized role in The War Within’s launch cinematic, we’ve been wondering when we would see more of this bioluminescent race that seems intimately connected to Azeroth.
That leads to another major candidate, which is the development of the story of the Worldsoul Saga itself. This will be our first time experiencing the second chapter of a trilogy of linked expansions, and finding out how we move forward from the events of K’aresh is high on my excitement list for Midnight. I am really looking forward to seeing which characters shine, which lurking foes might return, and finding out how the narrative progresses.
A sleeper candidate is the next iteration of Delves, one of the most popular new features from The War Within to move forward to Midnight. We know that we’ll be teaming up with famed Rogue Valeera Sanguinar, but not much else about the slate of Delves or what our purpose in exploring them will be. If they prove to be as rewarding and flexible of a chunk of end-game content as they have been for the past year, then I’m very interested to see where the team goes with them from here.
With all of that out of the way, none of the features of Midnight come close to reaching the excitement level that the Player Housing reveal gave me back in November. Since that initial teaser, we’ve seen a steady stream of updates that suggest to me that the team developing Azeroth’s real estate system has taken their time and really approached it the right way. Xal’atath might show up at a thoroughly abandoned Sunwell by Midnight’s launch, as the champions of Azeroth will be occupied with aligning the bookcases in their trophy rooms just right.
So which of the announced Midnight features are you looking forward to the most?
