How to get to player housing in World of Warcraft Midnight — it’s easier than you think!

If you’re one of the lucky folks getting ready to go access player housing in World of Warcraft for the first time — whether it’s finally launched or you’re just testing it on the PTR — the first thing you’ll need to know is: how the heck do I get to the player housing zone? After all, that one barred-off portal in Stormwind that was alleged to be for housing for decades isn’t it, and you need to get there fast — you need to pick out the perfect plot before someone else snags it, and you’ve got decor burning a hole in your pocket. Well, good news: it’s way easier than it looks, especially thanks to some other changes coming alongside it.

If you don’t have a home yet, you should receive a quest to purchase a home when you log into the game for the first time (or onto a testing server to test it). After that, just head to the portal room of your capital city, Orgrimmar or Stormwind. Thanks to some rearranging of the portals to make more recent and more relevant portals available in the front room (Stormwind) or top floor room (Orgrimmar), you’ll actually find the portal to the housing districts front and center — and is it just me, or is it slightly bigger than the other portals? Clearly the portal mages are as excited about housing as we are!

Once you’ve been there, you’ll be able to open the new Housing Dashboard — available via the house-shaped button on your mini-menu, or via the default hotkey of H — which, in addition to info on how much furniture you can place down, offers a convenient button in the top right to go directly to either your Alliance or Horde home. Just select the appropriate home from the drop-down above the icon and then click to be teleported directly to your housing plot. This ability has a 15 minute cooldown, but that’s pretty fast and won’t keep you away from home for long.

Remember, you can have both an Alliance and a Horde home — and you can visit both, no matter what faction you’re on!
