The Queue: Incog-neato
It is almost Halloween and as such, I am in disguise. I am pretending to be a responsible adult and parent when really all I want to do is play video games. Alas.
This is The Queue, our daily column where you ask us questions and we are responsible and answer in a timely fashion instead of playing the new Pacific Drive DLC.
(dang it).
Q4tQ: Do you upgrade your heirlooms and still use them to level? Mine cap out at I think 30 or 40 and I never bothered with upgrades because they cost too much IMO. What about you Do you level with or without Heirlooms these days?
I have not bothered with Heirlooms even a little since they removed the XP buff. Yes, they’re better than green leveling gear. Yes, even the bonkers good ones that never offered the XP buff.
And it’s funny, because I don’t think it’s a particularly big ask to level alts in general, that the XP buff meant the difference between leveling quickly and having to go grind out random mobs every so often like we did back in the day. But it used to have that XP buff so it feels bad that it doesn’t, now.
I’m also a type of player who doesn’t really like to get in there and tinker too much. The gearing gameplay loop is just a necessary evil that messes up my transmog. I don’t want to spend time screwing around with heirlooms when I can just equip what I get and vendor what I don’t use with all the other garbage the next time I get to town.
What’s your minor transmog annoyance?
It will likely always and forever be metallics undertones. These two pieces are bronze but one has a red undertone and one has a green undertone, so they don’t match. They especially don’t match in places with same-color lighting sliders, like the greeny color in Moonglade. Makes things just impossible.
Q4tQ How do you feel about Milk Duds?
Underrated. The chocolate part is subpar chocolate, but the caramel is pretty decent, and together they’re the best part of many other candies which are otherwise subpar. It’s like a Twix without the cookie part, which is objectively the worst part of the Twix.
Q4tQ Are you getting an “Advent Calendar”? If so, which one?
I usually get the Lego City one for the kids, but they’ve requested a chocolate one this year. Will probably get two just so I don’t have to hear fighting about who gets the chocolate every day for 24 days.
For me, I’m thinking Bonne Maman. I like preserves, I like honey, and I’ve seen that they now have things like knockoff nutella they may add. I like the idea of the skincare or makeup ones, but they are almost always both exorbitantly expensive and contain a bunch of junk I won’t use, especially since my skin is very sensitive and doesn’t respond well to certain fragrances. Also, some of them contain stuff I will definitely use, but is very boring, like reusable cotton makeup cleanser pads. I’m better off getting a couple full-size products I actually like.
I’m thinking about getting this small-ish coding and circuitry one for my husband to do with our son, but I’m not sure whether it would actually be fun or just kinda crap and end in tears.
Q4TQ: Do you believe in ghosts? Have you ever seen a ghost?
I go on haunted tours, mostly for the history, but I have yet to see one. I don’t believe or don’t not believe in them. But it would be interesting to see one.
No. And yes.
And with that, Happy Halloween.
