Which Midnight world activity are you looking forward to the most?
When Midnight launches, players will be able to participate in a lineup of brand new World Activities — but which ones will be at the top of you weekly to-do list for the entire expansion, and which will you completely ignore each weekly reset? Let’s take a look at what we know about these events, which have been promised to cater to a wide variety of playstyles.
The Silvermoon Court and Saltheril’s Soiree harken back to their Burning Crusade roots, since we first were introduced to the Eversong Woods in that era. Lord Saltheril was the Blood Elf that sent new adventurers on party prep errands all around the zone despite the increasing danger of Scourge advances. The event will involve reputation gains with four different Silvermoon military factions, each with their own rewards. This seems fairly standard, but an assortment of Blood Elf cosmetics means I’ll probably be punching my ticket to Lord Saltheril’s shindigs most weeks.
Abundance is an event that is based out of Zul’Aman but will take place across the Midnight starting zones that focuses on harvesting materials. We don’t know much about the new Loa of Abundance, but its in-game icon potentially being the same as the Radiaoactive Rats in Undermine could make for an interesting series of tasks. We’ll have to wait and see if this profession-based event has staying power, or if interest will fizzle out after the first few weeks of Midnight.
Legends of the Haranir sounds decently awesome, sending us into magical paintings to experience the history of Harandar’s enigmatic race. I can sense parallels to the Theater Troupe, so hopefully there will be enough variety and challenge to the stories to prevent the event from going stale.
The Stormarion Assault appears to be the most intense of the new World Activities, as players will assist the Void Elves in driving back anomalies from a citadel in Voidstorm. The reference to the “relentless waves of attackers” recalls Awakening the Machine, although a team-based version with strategic defense objectives rather than “kill the bad guys” has the potential to be exciting each week.
Finally there’s the Amani Abyss, the event that I’m looking forward to the most. It sounds like we’ll be swimming around off the coast of Zul’Aman spearing schools of fish, which could be tedious and buggy. However, if it’s done right, we could be rocketing around the Eastern Kingdoms continental shelf with a sort of underwater Skyriding while shooting spear guns at increasingly large and weird aquatic denizens. Lacing up my Forest Troll flippers is definitely one of the first things I plan on doing after Midnight launches.
So which of these World Activities sounds like it’s right up your alley, and which ones do you think will be one-and-done on your weekly to-do list?
