The World of Warcraft: Midnight beta test is now live (if laggy), so get ready to file those bug reports

We’ve been looking forward to the beta test for World of Warcraft: Midnight, to get a better look at the game (and what some of its features look like with more players). We knew the Midnight alpha test would precede the beta, and Game Director Ion Hazzikostas said that the beta would “be soon to follow,” so we’ve been hungry for news of the beta test.

Now we have it: the World of Warcraft Midnight beta test launched on November 11, 2025, and is now live!

We predicted the beta would be launching a little later, due to the timeframe we’ve seen on previous alpha tests, but it’s always good to get more players in to test features and provide feedback. Midnight comes with massive changes to classes and lots of new game systems, and extended feedback and testing periods will help make those things better.

Here’s what you need to know about the Midnight beta.

How can I get into the Midnight beta test? You automatically get access if you purchase the Midnight Epic Edition, but if you don’t want to throw down $90 on an expansion (no judgment), you can opt-in for beta testing on the World of Warcraft website. Beta tests usually start with a small group of players and then expand from there, so if don’t get into the first round of testing, don’t fret, because more people will get in later.

How will I know if I’m in the Midnight beta test? Blizzard will send you an email when you get beta access, but these emails arrive after your beta access has been enabled, usually the next day — and they can be caught in spam filters, too. The most reliable way to see if you have beta access is to check the Battle.net launcher. Look in the Game Version dropdown (just above the Play button) and see if Midnight Beta is listed. If it is, you have access and can download the beta client.

I got an email saying I can get in the beta if I just enter my password!  Do not give your password to any third party, even if they promise you beta access. Beta periods are a great time for scammers trying to steal your account, and Blizzard will never ask for your password except on official sites to access your account information or in the Battle.net launcher to log on. Beware of beta key scams!

What’s in the Midnight beta test? Most of the expansion is available to test from week one, but raid testing, the new transmog system, Mythic+ dungeons, Season 1 dungeons, higher tier Delves, and some housing and interface improvements — including the Night Elf and Blood Elf home exteriors — will be rolling out in future weeks. Here are the patch notes for the beta for full details.

What should I do if I get into the beta? Remember that a beta test is for testing, so you’ll want to check things out and submit bug and feedback reports. We have some tips to get you started when you get into the beta test.

See you in Azeroth!
