How was your first dip into Midnight Season 1?
We’re off to the gearing-up races in Season 1 of Midnight, so it makes sense to pause and reflect on the first week and Silvermoon City’s first Great Vault bonanza.
After getting through the main story campaign after Midnight’s launch, I found my self a bit burnt out for a week or so. My first night of Season 1 brought me back in — it was so fun running challenging Bountiful Delves, grabbing gear on the higher reward tracks, and completing the easy weekly Player Housing quest.
I’m far from a hardcore player, so I wasn’t ripping through the Season 1 mythic-difficulty dungeons or heroic Midnight raids from the starting gun. I spent week one doing what I like to do best: getting my checklists set up. A robust and manageable weekly to-do list has been a top priority for me since Wrath of the Lich King, and filling out the rewards so I know how to prioritize what to get done first each Tuesday does spark joy.
I have to say I’m not enamored with the weekly zone events yet, although I’m always willing to give those sort of things a while to grow on me. Getting screamed at by a green ghost rat while I frantically harvest herbs in a cave has not been my favorite, but now that it rewards some Coffer Key shards I’m willing to give it a few more weeks.
Being able to chain together increasingly difficult Delves for Champion-track rewards was probably the most fun part of the week. Watching your average gear score go up has always been one of the most universally satisfying parts of World of Warcraft, and there’s no time that that number ticks up faster than the first week of a new season.
One thing I haven’t done yet is made much progress on my alts. With the advent of Warbands in The War Within, I spent much of my first week repeating the same World Quests on half a dozen characters to race them all to max level. This time around, I have mostly just logged in to dabble across professions and claim a dozen free welcome packs of crafting materials from an increasingly suspicious Artisan’s Consortium requisitions officer.
So how did you enjoy that rare first-week feeling? Did you accomplish everything you were hoping to? What are your goals for the rest of the season?
