Blizzard greenlights new animated series “Titan Roommates”
On Wednesday, April 1 Blizzard made the surprise announcement that a new animated series set in the World of Warcraft universe is in the works: Titan Roommates is a light-hearted buddy comedy focusing on the often-strained relationship between Aman’thul and Sargeras during their ongoing non-voluntary cohabitation.
Aman’thul, as leader of the Pantheon of Order and President of the Titans’ HOA, is the embodiment of cosmic neatness and tidiness. Sargeras, Aman’thul’s former best friend, renounced his ordering ways long ago and has fully embraced the power of chaos and disorder. The last we saw of these two characters was several years ago at the conclusion of Legion, when Sargeras was imprisoned within the Seat of the Pantheon (Aman’thul’s house) on a class A littering charge.
The animated series picks up several years into the house arrest of Sargeras, and things are going about as well as you’d expect between two roommates on opposite ends of the order/chaos spectrum. Aman’thul is exasperated after Sargeras repeatedly raids the Pantry of the Highfather, invites his Eredar buddies over at all hours of the night, and does a poor job of cleaning up after the single felhound he has been allowed to keep by his side.
The official trailer gives us a glimpse of several familiar characters who frequent the Seat of the Pantheon and get pulled into the ongoing conflict. The jailer of Sargeras, Illidan Stormrage, has seemingly been overwhelmed by the same boredom that he faced during his own ten-millienia-long imprisonment and refuses to take responsibility for any of Sargeras’ shortcomings. Eonar the Life-Binder finds the former leader of the Burning Legion moping about his quarters, and conjures an assortment of plants and flowers in order to cheer him up only for Aman’thul to come home and be driven up the wall by the infusion of crawling vines.
The story will tie in nicely to the events of the Worldsoul Saga, as the promised return of the Pantheon to Azeroth during The Last Titan may just be Aman’thul desperately needing a vacation from his own now-disorderly home. We’ll be able to stream Titan Roommates in-game by speaking to an NPC outside of Ulduar when it releases on April 1, 2027.
