The decks you need to win the Dual Class Deckbuilding Hearthstone Tavern Brawl

One of the most fun Tavern Brawls in Hearthstone, Dual Class Deckbuilding, returns this week. You’ll build a deck using two classes rather than one, which means the possibilities are truly endless — and just like last time, the community has been quick with its theorycrafting, resulting in lots of fun decks.

Let’s not waste any time, because the path to your free pack this week has many possible routes!

Tavern Brawl basics

Name: Dual Class Deckbuilding! Tavern Brawl
Description: Build a deck from 2 classes! Pick your class then pick another class to add cards from!
Fun level: 9/10
Difficulty: 6/10
Replayability: 9/10
Format: Standard
Type: PVP
Rewards: 1 Cataclysm card pack

This Brawl follows the Standard Rules, and you need to build a deck (or copy a deck list directly into your client). The key difference is that your build will contain cards from two classes rather than just one.

Much like in Dual Class Arena (which we tend to get around the Hallow’s End event), one of the classes will give you your hero power, but both of them will give you cards. The only caveat is that Tourist cards are banned — otherwise, you’d be able to hit cards from more than just two classes.

How to win the Dual Class Deckbuilding Tavern Brawl

There’s no single winning strategy this week: much like in a Standard Ladder, there are many possible ways to win, whether it’s Aggro, Combo, Control, Tempo, or something else. What you should note, however, is that the ability to combine the strengths of two classes really amps up the power levels: aggro will hit very hard, combos will come out really fast, quests will get completed in a flash.

So pick your preferred style of play and try to find a deck that you can safely pilot, and your win will come naturally. With such high power (and fun!) decks, variance in games ought to be high.

The decks you need to win Hearthstone’s Dual Class Deckbuilding Tavern Brawl

Here are a few deck options for you to try out. If you’re not sure how to use deck codes, we have a handy guide for that.

Wallow Warlock + Rogue

  • Deck code:
    AAECAYrmBwLkggfDgwcOkZ8E958E2aIGnvkGtfoG34IHjoMHkIMHv4cHwYcHw4cHwZcH6psHnIIIAAA=
  • This is a deck I threw together and got my first win with. Your goal is to play Dark Gifts until you get Charge, Windfury, and lots of +Attack effects, so that you can then win the game by playing your beefed up Wallow, the Wretched. Rogue adds more Dark Gift cards to your arsenal as well as some early game control and acceleration.

Quest Demon Hunter + Hunter

  • You’re playing Quest Demon Hunter, which aims to deal exactly 2 damage a bunch of times, so nothing better than getting even more 2-damage cards from the Hunter class. You’ll complete your Quest in no time with this aggressive deck.

Dragon Warrior + Warlock

    AAEBAQcAD6r8Bqv8BuiHB9KXB6KtB6StB6WtB6etB6itB7etB8qyB+yyB4S9B7XAB/nDBwAA
  • This is your standard Dragon Warrior fare, a deck that’s very strong on the ladder at the moment, boosted by some Shreds of Time cards from Warlock for even beefier minions in the early game. Truly scary stuff.

Imbue Mage + Druid

  • Credit: disidentadvisor
  • Deck code:
    AAECAf0EBKqBB/KDB6yIB+6NBw2unwSA1ASB1ATW+gb0/AbigQf3gQeIgwfAhwfdiAekiQe2lAewmwcAAA==
  • You’ll flip back and forth between the Imbued Mage and Druid hero powers, but your aim is to use the Mage one. Detonate those Wisps! Hamuul makes you get your first Imbue right as you start the game, so your path to victory is much quicker than regular Imbue Mage.

Burn Hunter + Mage

  • Credit: LeficiosG
  • Deck code:
    AAECAdqqBgLFsQeIvgcOqZ8Eqp8Es4cHr5IH15cH2J4H1K8Hi7EH1rIHg8AHu8AHhsQHksQHk9oHAAA=
  • You’re playing Hunter mainly for your aggressive Hero Power, but this deck is mostly Burn Mage. You have tons of offensive spells from both classes to kill everything in your path, keeping enemies under control but constantly damaging the enemy hero as well.

Quest Priest + Death Knight

  • Credit: yssurucipe
  • Deck code:
    AAECAafDAwSolgf1mAefngeo3wcNhJ8EhZ8E1eUGxJQHxZQH5J4HrbEHs7EHzrsHm78H+r8HssUHlvwHAAA=
  • It’s Quest Priest, but with some extra Shadow spells it gets from Death Knight for more board presence and some powerful effects that cost Health — which goes really well with all the ways this deck already has to restore Health.

Herald Shaman + Rogue

  • Credit: arrogantsob
  • Deck code:

  • Both Shaman and Rogue can make use of Herald cards, so you’re constantly double-dipping and building up to both Sinestra and Al’Akir — though the Herald minion you get on the board is always just the Shaman one. Still, Rogue boosts it very nicely, especially in the early game.

Do you have an awesome deck of your own? Share it in the comments! If not, just take one of our picks and go have some fun.
