The decks you need to win the Lead from the Front Hearthstone Tavern Brawl
Just like last week, we have a very old Hearthstone Tavern Brawl returning after several years. And just like last week, it’s a Wild Constructed Brawl, meaning you can take some really OP decks for a spin. The gimmick this time is that your Hero has Taunt. Permanently.
Is this simple mechanical change more impactful than last week’s offering? Does a Hero that can always be targeted mean a more involved Brawl this time? Read on to find out!

Tavern Brawl basics
Name: Lead from the Front Tavern Brawl
Description: Enough hiding behind your minions! Protect them! In this brawl, your hero has Taunt.
Fun level: 5/10
Difficulty: 7/10
Replayability: 4/10
Format: Wild
Type: PVP
Rewards: 1 Cataclysm card pack
Just like last time, you start the game with 10 armor, so your health total for this game is 30 + 10. This time, however, your Hero always has Taunt. What this means is that your hero can always be attacked by enemy minions, at any point, even if you put your own Taunt minions on the field — the opponent can choose whether they want to target those Taunt minions or your Taunted hero. This also means that your minions that don’t have Taunt cannot be attacked directly, since your hero is always a higher priority target because of their Taunt. That’s what makes a difference this time.
Other important notes are that if your hero ever gains the Immune effect during the match, they effectively lose their Taunt for as long as they’re Immune — which bypasses the whole gimmick, even making your normal minions targetable. Also, if you play a Hero card during the game, replacing your Hero, they will still have Taunt.
Despite the fact that your non-Taunt minions have extra protection, you shouldn’t rely too hard on their survival: spells and other board wipe effects still exist. In fact, it’s a very good idea to play a deck that runs a few of those yourself, so you can deal with any pesky enemy minions without direct attacks. Tempo strategies are pretty bad here, since you can’t really control trades, so don’t expect to win the game with board back-and-forth. You definitely want direct aggression on the enemy hero.

The decks you need to win Hearthstone’s Lead from the Front Tavern Brawl
Once again, we have a few very overpowered Wild decks for you to try this week. If you’re not sure how to use deck codes, we have a handy guide for that.
XL Aggro Shadow Priest
- Credit: Neon31
- Deck code:
AAEBAa0GCvcTkbwCrfcDu/cDp+QEl+8EucQF/cQFyPgF19IGD6EEurYDo/cDhoMF3aQFhY4G0J4GmKAGxKEGyKEGxKgG17oG1cEG5OoGrJQHAAEDh/cD/cQFwKEG/cQFssUH/cQFAAA=
- The aggression potential with this deck is off the charts. You’ll pour lots of cheap minions on the board very quickly, you have several effects that deal damage to the enemy (while sometimes also damaging yourself), and even your Hero Power can deal two damage to anything every turn. It’s crazy fast and strong.
Garrote Rogue

- Deck code:

- Draw, draw, draw. This deck relies on using Garrote bleeds to quickly chip away at your opponent’s health as you continue to draw more and more cards. Your minions that are a key part of your strategy and require protection, like Brann and Augmented Elekk, may survive longer since enemy minions can’t attack them directly most of the time.

Enrage Warrior

- Deck code:
AAEBAQcCvuIEud0FDp3wAqS2A5HQA5HkA7zbBP/bBI+VBfTyBYWOBtCeBuPmBp6ZB5vCB5zCBwAA
- Aggression combined with Enrage effects to make your enemies even more powerful, relying on the fact that dealing damage to them isn’t as big a detriment in this Brawl as it would normally be. Get those buffs, and use cards like Torch to still be able to deal with pesky enemy minions.
Pirate Demon Hunter

- Deck code:
AAEBAea5AwaRvALUyAP51QOHiwS4xQX8wAYM+w/psAPyyQPltgSl4gSr4gSVqgX8qAbYwAb2wAatxQax6wYAAA==
- This deck keeps summoning Pirates that get buffed from Treasure Distributor and deal damage directly to the enemy hero through Ship’s Cannon. It’s non-stop attacks on your enemy, and when it works, it’s just beautiful and overwhelming.
Discard Warlock (Discolock)
- Credit: hsguru.com
- Deck code:
AAEBAf0GBM4Hj4ID8aEG9qEGDbW5A9XRA9DhA5iSBauSBZXKBteXB4SZB6StB8ayB9a+B9m+B8+/BwAA
- This one returns from last week, because it still works well. Use your effects to discard your own cards and gain power from them, then fill up your board and buff it, knowing that your enemy has very limited ways to interact with it.
And that’s the Brawl for this week! Did you find a good deck yourself? Make sure to share it with everyone. May your Taunts be sturdy and your games be fun.
